Opening Statement…
"Well, first of all, I want to thank my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. This is just so much fun. Such a blessing to do this. Thank you for the crowd, the students that showed up. I thought the energy in the building at the start of the game kind of stunned them [California] a little bit. You know, watching their games, they hadn't been in front of a big crowd and we know what a crowd looks like here. That wasn't a big deal but the energy was incredible, and the guys just fed off of it, and we're really proud of the guys [for] the first probably 24 minutes. We played some really good basketball on both ends of the floor and then human nature kicked in and they relaxed. And then those guys, because we relaxed, saw the ball go in the hole. And when you let good shooters like Chris Bell see the ball go in the hole, you know, he just started. And we know what a great player Dai Dai [Ames] is, so, you know, just happy for him and his family and so blessed for the win. Excited to continue getting better."

Do I want to see Dai Dai booed? No
Would I boo Stojakovic if Illinois played in Haas? Definitely.
You boo people who are nemeses or who damage a team's chances. AS qualifies for Cal, Dai Dai qualifies for K State, it's in the Bill of Rights, No. 11, the right to boo.

Coach was spot on about the "crowds" our players have played in front of prior to yesterday. We need to do better. I'm not going to call out people for not showing up to Haas: It's an individual choice and we have not given fans much of a reason for a number of years now.

But I look forward to when we do better. Go Bears!

If we expect a "marketing guy" to create a plan that produces sold out (high) attendance at current (full) price on day 1 based on where we are today that is utter foolishness. But I am certain it could be accomplished in phases over a few years (almost) regardless of the team's performance each year. Seats are paid for already but we do nothing to generate a ROC for them year after year save for the praying that our coach and players will recruit and win extraordinarily. Our audience and team identities completely disconnected from each other is what we have today. No strategy. Specifically, no targeted audience segment positioning/branding that leverageour unique assets and ith it an enticing pricing strategy, whatsoever. Instead on the marketing side it's the naive belief that we just have to come up with that magical tag line and ad campaign that appeals to everyone. Sure.

What's the difference between $20 x 1000 fans or $2 x 10000 fans? Same revenue. Might as well pack the house and provide home court advantage.

$5 tickets. $5 domestics. $5 for a soda and hot dog or 2 of either. $5 nachos. Everyone happy.

Way more revenue at the concession stands. (They would have to hire a few humans.)

Kansas State beat Tulsa at home, by 1 point. Tulsa beat Oral Roberts on the road, by one point. Transitive analysis suggests we are not good.

I'm not convinced that K-State is all that good<=> Could have real trouble rebounding/defending down low.

The next 2 games are Mississippi State at home. And then their first road game...at Indiana. They're underdogs in both.

I ran bunch of elaborate clubs in LA and i always hired stunning women to walk around just to make guys think it was the happening lace to be. Just thinking out loud.
