First hoops game of the year. Looking to catch great day of college football + beers somewhere close to Haas.
Is Kip's still a thing? I've heard rumors of the Bear's Lair opening back up. Henry's??

Thanks for any tips.

The "new Bear's Lair" is now Headlands Brewing On-Campus and while it's not officially the Bear's Lair in name, it's the best effort I've seen in trying to replace it. They've got a good selection of beers on tap, pretty decent food, good for TV watching, and nice nods to Cal throughout.

If you park downtown, among our many favorites are Jupiter for pizza and beer on the patio (if not too cold), Study Hall, the rooftop bar at the Marriott on Center with stunning views (but pricy), or our personal favorite, East Bay Spice recently reopened on Oxford with great craft cocktails and Indian food. Short walk over the bridge through the redwoods to Haas Pavilion.

for the most Cal sports bar feel go to Cali on Telegraph

I prefer the vibe compared to the new Bear's Lair which I find very sterile

for breakfast I really recommend La Note on Shattuck (see photo)

Overall, I think the restaurants on College Avenue are better than the ones on Telegraph

IMHO both College and Shattuck have better restaurants than Telegraph (until you get into North Oakland near 51st Street).

If you want a great meal after the game, Angelina's Louisiana Kitchen on Shattuck (about 2 blocks from Haas) is the way to go. Fantastic food and service.
