Lot of sticks lined up for Cal

- The game tips off at 11PM EST for Duke. Many of them are asleep at that time.
- Big crowd tomorrow. Cal ticket office is expecting a sell out; we'll see.
- Duke started their spring semester last week
- This Duke team has struggled as of late (nearly lost at home to Georgia Tech and SMU and barely escaped Florida State on the road. I believe Lipscomb gave them a run for their money earlier.

I love the optimism. But I don't think the tip/kick off times are as significant as they were in the past. It seems like all of the programs (in particular the ACC and Big10) have invested in travel and support to mitigate much of the travel burden from time zones and the trip itself.

At least it seems that way. Most of the teams in that conference don't seem to have as much fall off due to times as they did 5-10 years ago. It may be worth a point or two. But not like the 8-10 points it may have meant in the past (I seem to recall a big east coming to Haas/Harmon MANY years ago for a 9pm tip off and fading in the last 10 minutes - but I haven't seen that lately)

A a former heavy traveler that I was able to train my body to effectively avoid jet lag. And that included trips to Europe and Asia. I'm sure the support and knowledge is even better now.

Obviously this Duke team is pretty talented and stacked with 5 stars, but I'm not going into this game thinking they are unbeatable.

- The Athletic wrote a pretty good article about their recent defensive performances, and how they haven't been that great on that side of the ball recently. Apparently Scheyer is working on this.
- I. Evans can really shoot it, but don't think they have anyone else who can really light it up from 3. Foster at PG has had some big games but is more of a facilitator.

The thing I am most worried about is guarding Boozer and Ngongba in the post. Boozer is probably too quick for any of our bigs and am worried Dort will get into foul trouble early.

Will take a strong team effort and am looking forward to being in HAAS for this one.

Fair. I'm not optimistic that we win, but the Cal team should have no excuses to come out with more energy and passion than Duke.

I am a big fan of the Milos Ilic and Lee Dort 2 big lineup ! It seemed to stifle Virginia tech and perhaps could do the same to Ngungba and boozer. Madsen needs to run evans off that 3 point line and find a way to confuse boozer and ngungba. Not easy but there are some teams out there that have done it so ? But we need to get Camden and Bell going they have just been non existent in the ACC games. We won the UCLA game because bell went crazy. Excited to be at haas though !

Not going to lie, the 11pm ET start time is weird for me. But just a few months ago, Duke's football team played at California in a game that started at 10:30pm ET. Football games are longer than basketball games, and I stayed awake for that. Of course, it was on a Saturday rather than a Wednesday. Also, I live in the Central Time Zone.

The ACC requires teams to report player availability the night before a conference game, and you can find those initial reports here.

Scroll down to Duke-California and you'll see that reserve center Ifeanyi Ufochukwu is out for the Blue Devils. (Specifically, he's out for the season with a non-contact knee injury suffered in practice last month, according to the Fayetteville Observer.) Meanwhile, Jovani Ruff, Sammie Yeanay, and Rytis Petraitis are out for the Golden Bears.

If there are any changes, the ACC will also provide an updated game day report about 2 hours before tip-off, on the same page linked above.

There is a notice sent out to the band that "there will be some VIP guests at the Haas game tonight....reminder not to ask for pics" etc. These notices are very rare apparently, They didnt hint as to who it may be. and guesses?

Stephen Miller is a Duke grad. I predict he will be in da Haas with his Praetorian Guard to show the f@ckin' commies who be runn'in the show 'round here.

Duke struggled last night for 30 minutes and I never said they would struggle. I was just listing facts, but hey let's just say I said they were going to struggle and be an optimist!

I would love it if Kyle Smith stuffed Duke….but the ACC refs won't let that happen. It took the loathsome ACC for me to root for Furd….but I have always been a Kyle fan.

I think I will like Jon Scheyer's personality better as a loser shrieking as he leaves the Maples court just like the coach of the leprechauns left Pete Newell Court.

I want every ACC coach, team and homer broadcaster to suffer severe psychological pain on their Bay Area swing by. F all of them!
