No overflow channel like espn big 10 and sec unless you count accx which is a stream only hard to find channel.

It often does not become available until a few minutes after the game starts. Why?

The streaming app is the overflow, basically. I don't think it's much different for the SEC Network games.

which format/device were you using?

When it said it was starting on ACC extra at the end of the UNC game, I clicked right over and it was there (using my espn app on roku/streaming). I even left it on ACC extra for the whole 1st half and the first couple minutes of half time. When it was just the blank 'we'll be right back screen', I switched back over to regular ACC Network and realized there was a halftime studio show going on.

Yes, "ACCNx" is really just a direct stream of that game on the ESPN app/website. If the game has started you should be able to find that and just put it on. Don't look up the ACCN itself, just find the game.

I don't know what happened with this one since I started watching late too, but in the past I've always just seen the start of the game on the streaming site.

Yeah, since it's not my login it doesn't show my preferred teams and I've had trouble finding games via the espn menu. What I usually do is just search California from the main menu a couple minutes before game time. Or sometimes on the busy schedule days and I see their on ACC extra right after another game, I'll just tune into the other game first.

Multiple archived games are already on the replay section. Many are Lower D1 schools such as Cal Poly and UCSD. This is clearly an oversight. Apparently this happened earlier this month to a UNC game.

Luckily i recorded the game on Direct tv, though since they always start late you lose the first few minutes

I only watch the Cal games. Haven't missed any.

When a game before the Cal game runs over, and the message says its on the ESPN app, several times this year when I switch to it it's like a freakin' treasure hunt to find it. Sometimes I don't think they even load it up on time. If they are going to advertise their app, the game should be included with all of the others on the MCB lineup the minute they advertise it. They really do a poor job on it.

You are right. I set Cal has my favorite team. Doesn't come up as first few games. I once found it about 10 minutes before the game was supposed to start. Then i went back two minutes after start and it was gone. Its almost like they delete it to put it into active status. It is a treasure hunt and I hate it. This is a thing that YouTube TV fought for in their last negotiation with Disney, for more of this ESPN streaming content to be made available directly in their interface. Reports are that it should become available in the first half of this year.

The ESPN app sucks, very hard to navigate. If you have ESPN Unlimited and can watch it through Disney+ the navigation is better, though not all of the content is available there (so it's most useful for watching stuff live).
