What is publicized about NIL and what is real are two distinctly different things. This is why enforcement is such a joke.

Also, lots and lots of stories out there about what is promised (and even contracted) ends up being different than what ends up in a players bank account.

A hundred years ago, Hollywood put in alot of rules to protect child actors being abused by agents, parents and studios.

College athletics hasn't even scratched the surface in comparison.

I'm waiting for more and more and more to come out about gambling, That is where the real money is.

"How's this for a sign of the times in men's college hoops? There were only 22 Power 5 scholarship players who celebrated Senior Night last week at the same school where they began their career. The Big Ten had the most such players (10), followed by the Big 12 (5), ACC (3), Big East (3) and SEC (1).

The migration generation: On the flip side, there are nearly as many Power 5 seniors who played at four different schools in four years (19) thanks to the freedom of movement afforded by the transfer portal. There are also two seniors who played at five schools in five years and another two who played at six schools in six years."

Need a big closet to store all that laundry. But hookers and blow will always remain the constant.

Is that legal now, as well?

My understanding is Cal was committed to a full rev share. And approximately $3.5M was the benchmark for hoops. And then perhaps another$1M added for $4.5M.

And there has been some donor dollars added. What seems to be true is that the difference between the top quartile of ACC teams and the next group is fairly wide.

I think Cal should be able to field a team similar in profile to this years team. But are approaching the roster management as though they have made some progress in the NIL budget.

I doubt we ever hear hard numbers outside the rev share numbers. There is no benefit to doing so.

But once the portal opens we likely will get some clues.

I agree that $4.5M is a lock. The question is how do we raise another $2+M to let Mark and his crew upgrade the talent on our squad through the NIL bazaar.

I have heard that later this month there will be a matching donation MBB drive that will be promoted as a way to get us over our historically mediocre amount of NIL funds (i.e., every donated dollar by us supposedly will be match through the generosity of some major donors who are funding the matching pot). That's is why I am deferring my next MBB NIL donation for my courtside seats from Jenny's and Jay's Big Give promotion to the forthcoming matching gift program that is MBB centric.

I wish that somehow the J&J duo would increase the NIL surcharge on tickets from a meager 4% to a more compeitive 10 to help out Mark's recruiting and retention efforts.

I am long-time season ticket holder. I don't have a lot of extra money lying around (unfortunately), yet I am 100% for your idea. Heck, have an opt-in (or opt-out) box to check to go up to 20%, explaining the rationale. I'd do it!
