Who went to the game? Found this on their website:

In one of the closest games of the historic 2003-04 season, Saint Joseph's downed Cal, 59-57 at the Pete Newell Challenge in Oakland, Calif. Jameer Nelson was the only Hawk in double figures, leading all scorers with 19 points, also topping SJU with six rebounds. St. Joe's held Cal to 8-for-28 shooting in the first half and took a 28-22 lead at the break. In the second half, the Golden Bears hung tough and eventually tied the game at 57-57 with 58 seconds remaining on a pair of free throws that came on an intentional foul, giving Cal the ball back. The Golden Bears didn't score on the ensuing possession and Nelson ripped down the rebound off the miss. He then brought the ball down the floor and waited out the clock before hitting the game-winning, fadeaway jumper with 4.3 seconds to go.

I will be going to the game today and watch the women's game at Cali or Headlands.

Go Bears!

Great memory. There were more than 12k people that day in the Oakland Arena, and Ben Braun drew up one of the best inbound plays in history with less than 4 seconds to play. Ayinde Ubaka inbounded the ball and then snuck into the opposite corner for a wide open three that sadly went in and out.

I also remember their hawk mascot having to flap its wings for what seemed to be the entire game!

Jameer Nelson was a helluva college player. I really enjoyed watching him play when I had the chance. Played some in the NBA, but man was he fun to watch in college.

That season Jameer Nelson and his backcourt teammate Delonte West carved through everyone to a 27-0 regular season, a #1 seed and advanced to the Elite Eight in March.

No Oski. No dancers. But the band was reasonably complete.

Different game, but Ubaka made good for some sportscenter humor with this one. "Who's this abooka guy?"

Great memories!
