Great news

I think this is great news regard a practice facility. I was at Cal before Hass was our renamed facility. I have only one question. dId THE ACQUISITION include both the Blue and Gold courts or just the Blue court leaving Gold in RSF hands. Really happy for the Athletes.

Just the Blue.

I'm out of the loop on this and I'm not sure I understand what is happening. It sounds like an EXISTING RSF court is going to be "re-allocated" and enhanced for both basketball programs. Is that right? How does the loss of the court for the general students work? This sounds way better than removing Spieker pool and putting an all new basketball facility there. How was the original RSF Blue court funded and are there outstanding issues with its conversion to basketball only use? Is another court being created somewhere else?

I disagree. Yes, it is not as nice as many P4 practice facilities, but the lack of a dedicated practice facility won't hurt us like it has
Better yet, having it 7/24 for players to put up shots, train, and skills work will absolutely help the players improve
One of the biggest frustrations of a hooper is not having a court to access and I'm not talking about an outdoor court in the park
As for the RSF, there are 4 full courts in the main gym on the first floor, although the last court is usually setup for badminton, and sometimes it's used for events or other activities (e.g. VB tournament or intramurals), and the Gold gym next to the Blue gym on the 3rd floor (same size, and has one full length full court, but usually run two sideways full court games)

Is this rendering accurate? The court looks quite short.

Better than nothing, and much thanks to the Goldmans.
But this is hardly a selling point for recruits. In the long run, a competitive program needs a quality practice facility, and this is not it.

How do you know that this won't be a quality practice facility? The remodeling/reconstruction hasn't even begun yet. Wait until it is finished and in operation before criticizing it.
