Sitting in my usual spot near the Cal bench, I came away from it with the opinion that the effort our team gave last night was the best I've seen in a long time.

I'm not a doctor, but it sure seemed like the only truly healthy players we have right now are Lulu, Mjracle, and Lola. At times Sakima appears to have trouble just walking, Claudia not 100%, Gisella appears to be fighting through soreness, and based on how Naya was used by Charmin, I got the feeling that she is hurting too. Add to that Taylor's injury and Puff still not suited up, this team is really playing with determination.

I'm also not a sports psychologist, but it sure looked like Mjracle went into this game challenging herself to stand up to Hildalgo. Based on what I saw, at the very least it was a push, or one could say that Mjracle was a notch better. Again, another impressive effort.

Good observations. Naya was wearing a blue glove on her right hand when on the bench. Gisella seems to have a foot injury every 2nd or 3rd game but she gets up and keeps playing…looked like Charmin had to restrain the trainer from going onto the court when Gisella fell in last night's game, as I think we've learned that an on court trainer visit means the player has to come off, even temporarily.

Plus, when she did get up, Gisella gave the thumbs up sign to the bench. Meaning I'm OK. She is tough as nails.

Lulu played 40 minutes
Maul and Sheppard played 39

EVERY player has injuries, bumps, soreness, sprains, bruises, etc at this point in the season

Getting Claudia back helps and hopefully Puff returns next week

I have no idea how high D1 players do it

Naya often applies some type of topical before she subs in (something like tiger balm). My guess is the blue glove keeps her hand(s) from direct contact with it. She has done this all season.s
