Did you watch a different video than me? Gisella's and Charmin's comments both gave me huge hope we keep this core together! Gisella's comments especially felt like this was the team and coach/culture she wanted to play for.

Like Coach said: "Hell, yes!"

What also gives me hope and optimism can be summed up in two words: Meghin Williams. The GM was barely on the job two weeks or so last year and went out and signed Sakima, Mjracle and Naya from the portal.

This year, it's about retention AND the portal. I'm confident that she's up to these critical tasks at hand. Won't it be fun next season to watch Lulu on the court with her two fellow Aussies, Ruby and Zara!

The looks on the faces of both Mjracle and Gisella seem to be acknowledging disappointment with this loss but also the "unfinished business" to be handled next season on this team.

I've been saying all year this is a very young team.

If you can keep most of this group together (plus Ruby and Zara) and snag a post in the portal this is absolutely an NCAA tournament group. Heck, we won 21 games this year.

The roster I am hoping for next year, that could lead to a real NCAA run:

Returning Starters:
Lulu
Puff
Taylor
Gisella

Known Incoming:
Zara
Ruby
Anna Lagonikaki
Some rumored additional big?

Returning Bench:
Lola
Grace
Sofia (walk on)

Seemingly Up in air:
Mjracle
Naya
Drousini
Isis

Hoped-for Transfers:
Defensive first PG
Skilled PF

A starting center is a must.

On your "Hope-For" Transfers.

I believe Charmin will more likely be looking for a shooting guard. Offense first. Someone like Riley Weiss or Kymora Johnson (Virginia).

I have to be honest, watching Marta, I am incredibly worried about Lulu.

Marta graduated from Cal..

Thank you. That's what I needed to hear. I do think, considering wnba salaries, a berkeley degree carries an additional surplus to NIL that is beneficial to us.

Don't we have a shooting guard named Lulu Twidale? What Charmin needs to look for is someone to implement an offense that gets our shooting guard more open looks.

Seems to me we had two shooting guards (Ioanna Krimili) a short time ago and that worked out pretty well.

As to your second point, I suggested something like that two days ago in the Columbia thread:

"Does Charmin need to think about adding an offensive-minded coach this off-season?

Or perhaps a coaching consultant who can work with the players?"

To your point, we also have Gisella who can be classifed as a shooting guard or a small 3. It's not about having "too many." My main point about shooting guards is that too often this year I saw other teams' shooting guards take shots when they were open off of an efficient offense that relied on passing and timing while Lulu seemed to only get hers off of transistion or loose balls. I'm just so tired of watching an offense where the ball handler dribbles up top, waiting for someone to free open and it hardly ever happens.
