Amaka Agugua-Hamilton, women's coach at Virginia, has been let go. After receiving millions from the husband of Serena Williams, they are not going to settle for an 8th place finish in the ACC and an NCAA Sweet Sixteen appearance.

WOW!!

Wasn't that donation just made within the last year?
On the flipside, I'm guessing their star guard, Kymora Johnson, will be entering the portal.

Did notice that they landed no ESPN Top 100 high school players this year. With all of that money available, that may have sealed her fate.

Would Dawn Staley leave South Carolina to back to her alma mater? I doubt it. She has made a monster program in South Carolina. If I was the Virginia AD I sure would call her or at the least ask her what she thinks.

I think it was more behind the scenes problems then performance problems.

She made a Sweet Sixteen at Missouri State and a Sweet Sixteen at Virginia. She is only 42. I think that somebody is going to want to hire her.

I'm constantly amazed and disheartened that modern day coaches still sometimes resort to abusing players. We have a great example right here at the University of California of a great coach who very successfully used the opposite approach. Legendary Golden Bear football coach Pappy Waldorf had a no profanity rule for himself, for his coaches and for his players. Far from chewing out players he was known to encourage them and treat them with kindness. He got to know them all as individuals. Mind you, there were clear expectations for players, discipline was imposed but it was never harsh and there was correction without humiliation. He demanded excellence without stripping players of dignity. Players appreciated this and loved him for it and many stayed in touch with him for years after leaving school. When the team lost he took responsibility and insisted that they would learn together from what went wrong and do better next time. There's no reason why a coach of today can't follow Pappy's model and there's every reason why they shouldn't be abusive to their student athletes.

Tennessee now has no one coming back. The buyout for the Tennessee coach has dropped to $2 million after April 2. Caldwell did not have much coaching experience coming in. except at smaller schools. This storied program is going to have to make a change, and I am sure that they will have donors who will pony up.

Speaking of coaches... how the heck did I miss Kelly Sopak becoming the next head coach of Nevada?!
