Wow! Great game by the Bears. Lots of guys stepped up at different times, as needed. This was an impressive win. The team is really gelling now. If they can keep progressing, they can make some noise in the ACC and maybe get an invitation to the Dance.

I'm really liking this team. They play as a team and not as a collection of individual talents. This is how basketball should be played, IMHO. Madsen's got himself a good squad this year.

Bring on the Utes next Tues. They're losing to Grand Canyon right now, I like our chances.

No wonder football not good, cuz basketball is good. Calgorithm physics says both can't be good at same time.

Great win for the Bears... and Madsen!

All I can now remember from last weekend is that we're about to hire a much better football coach!

I was so impressed with Carr. Always felt comfortable with him handling the rock. That pass to bell for the three in the second half did not look easy.

The left handed full court pass he made to Bell was incredible!

Love this!

My one quibble is in the last few minutes with a lead I would have replaced Ilic with Camden for better free throw shooting.

Our bench came up with 23 points, 16 rebounds, 11 assists (compared to 4 for the starters), 3 steals, and just 2 turnovers. Way to go!

Awesome win! Beating the southern branch never gets old. We outplayed them, flat out. Better team ball. Better effort. Just better. Great job boys. Great job Coach! Go Bears!

Wouldn't mind we get a transfer from AFA every couple of years.

Once again, easily the best basketball TEAM since some of the Monty years. Now, just lower the prices to bring in fans, ALL students free, of course.

You realize that Cal sold out the full student allocation for Football and Basketball this year - $125 for all games. 6k students.

I'm not convinced giving free tickets to students beyond the 6k who expressed an interest and paid money gets many (any) more students to attend basketball games.

I'd much rather have Cal for select games give HS and Youth Groups and Senior Citizen Groups free tickets. And how about some marketing for the team in general? Buy the former Warriors season ticket holder list. At least 10k people who used to attend Warriors games who have been priced out.

Lots of things Cal marketing can do but giving away free tickets to students isn't one of them

Been thinking of this. I hope Madsen adds a defensive specialist every year. Rytis and Dorsey may be a step slow, may not have pro size and potential, can't shoot---but they are dawgs. They do the little things, their intensity is contagious, they set a tone. Target the DPOY from those low level conferences---wise investments.

- priced out warriors szn ticket list
- youth days for elementary / middle schoolers (school Haas rock for men)
- corporate packages PLS. so many venture backed startups who absolutely cannot afford warriors corporate packages but would love to take clients and/or employees to games. I'm not even kidding my personal list of seed-series B companies who'd routinely buy an allotment of 3-5 tickets per game would total ~500 tix a game
- student org packages (the social scene at berkeley is super club oriented now)

And generally just an OUNCE of creativity and risk taking with marketing. The bland "run some Instagram ads & maybe a couple bus stop posters" is so boring and doesn't move the needle. take bigger swings!!

Then have someone investigate why they don't go to the games even though they bought tickets. Do they KNOW that they bought tickets? If the they do know, why did they buy them? If they are knowledgeable enough about "college" hoops to know beforehand which games that they will attend, let the groundlings fill the upper reaches of The Empty Haas for free, and free ice cream. It's Its, preferably.

How much are student ticket regular price? Last season I bought a ticket for a student I met while playing in the RSF. I think it was something like $18

Maybe run some student ticket promos for $10 or student group tickets (e.g. 10 tickets for $90)

Reach out to Cal social media influencers and sponsor them. There are a ton of them on TikTok and IG who often post videos at Cal games. By the way, the Cal student store has a very well run social media campaign

I often see other Cal sports teams at games such as the WBB or W gym or VB teams. Do we have any team promos for them?

I know Cal used to have discount tickets for various groups such as Veterans, Healthcare workers, etc…maybe expand those groups)

Also, perhaps donate tickets to non-profits. They have a lot of volunteer workers who aren't paid but have no income. Getting free tickets could be a reward for them (I know some companies do that… for example Gilroy Gardens donated tickets to the food bank)

I make donations for free tickets or transportation for School Haas Rock and through those experiences find the biggest issue is to find someone at Cal to help as they seem too busy. Development sometimes helps, ticket office sometimes help but it's a different group every year. This year it was the Cameron Institute.

Couldn't Cal hire a few students to handle outreach and donations or discounts for these types of things? I would even volunteer but in the past, Marketings was not interested even after I made contact to a number of east bay non-profits

I haven't had the time to re-establish contacts with the co-ADs or new marketing. Can anyone help with introductions?

So, I did some research. I walked next door to ask the kids (they will always be kids to me) if they went to any of the games with their Greek friends. They hadn't, but they did mention that their houses TOLD THEM to get the passes so that they could resell tickets to any desirable games to raise party funds.

Sounds like a real scam. Make admission to students on a first come basis, and certain organizations will cry bloody murder.
