it wasn't clear. There was Pippen's hand in the area. It has to be absolutely clear and you could argue maybe a Pippen finger was in the way. Knew we'd get screwed there but it should have been called out on UNC to begin with.socaltownie said:

It is corrupt. Corrupt reffing makes college basketball unwatchable and makes the ACC a kangaroo court. The difference in the way fouls were called at the end of the game. The walk that went uncalled. All of it.
I have no words for missing TWO one-an-one FTs… then the open 3 for UNC. No words

…..and F the corrupt ACC refs. Alameda County should indict them.
The foul calling differential was 20-15 but really 20-9 because NC last 6 fouls were intentional.

In going into this tough stretch to start the ACC season I hoped to at least get 2 wins. It happened!

When the shamefully cheerleading play by play and color announcers are calling traveling and fouls on NC players that the refs aren't, and saying a Cal player called for a foul did not commit one, you know that you have an officiating crew issue that may rise to the level of a violation of the RICO statute.
The foul differential was 20-9 and well on its way to facilitating a NC win before NC committed 6 intentional fouls in the closing minutes to make it a 20-15 differential.

Back from the Haas...
The officiating was horrible. So was our poise over the last ten minutes.
But all's well that ends well.
That was by far the toughest stretch of the schedule (the past 6 games.
I'm trying not to read too much into this win, but it could be a pivotal moment. The guys faltered and gave away a 19-point lead when for a few minutes they forgot how to break a full court press. But instead of moping around and laying down like they did against Duke when things got tough, they showed grit and resilience in icing UNC out and hitting some FTs when it counted.
Sure, they got some help from some big Tar Heel misses and it wasn't always pretty (the lack of rebounding late in the game was particularly maddening), but they got it done. Today was Cal's statement that they belong in the ACC, we're here to stay.
