Yeah, the way ACC Networks stacks games so close to each other basically guarantees that you're going to miss the beginning of a game if you're recording it.

Though yes, you can just go watch the full replay on ESPN's app.

That's probably an unplanned perk for ESPN that they've now realized is a way to drive more app subscriptions. I doubt they'll change the scheduling any time soon.

I mean, people who get ACC Network though a TV provider can already watch all that content on the app, so I don't know that this is driving more subscriptions.

I know the games are on-demand on the ESPN app. I didn't know that a TV provider subscription also came with access to the ESPN app. I have ESPN unlimited (and thus access to the ESPN app) as part of a bundle with Hulu+ and Disney+. I would suspect that more young people are cutting the cord and do not have TV subscriptions while subscribing to streaming services, instead. For these latter, they won't have access to the ESPN app without a subscription to ESPN (whether select or unlimited).

Correct, but everyone needs to pay in some fashion to see the ACC Network. Either you pay ESPN directly or you pay a cable/satellite/streaming provider that has it. Either way you are able to view the ACCN content online. (That's why they call it "ACCNx" rather than just ESPN+ content, it's available with an ESPN sub or for anyone who pays for a provider that gets ACCN. SEC Network has a similar deal.)

ACC Digital Network puts up a full replay free on YouTube 2-3 days later. No ESPN subscription needed.

UNC at California (Saturday, January 17, 2026)

You could easily put together a list of links for previous Cal games this season by a YouTube search query like "Cal men's basketball full replay".

11/03: Cal State Bakersfield
11/06: Wright State
11/10: Cal State Fullerton

...and so on.

(There are exceptions. If it aired live on The CW, FOX, CBS, or another channel outside the ESPN family, then there probably won't be a full replay available.)
