Red's on target, it's not a slump when these two go cold, it's just better defense against them AND, something every hoops fan knows, if you have no inside game for the other team to worry about, you'll handicap your outside game.
Dort and Kocanas just haven't been able to establish that. Not saying they're not giving their all, it's a talent issue.
I was just watching Michigan's Aday Mara (7'3" 255 lb)
https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/player/_/id/5174983/aday-mara
dominate against Ohio St., and thought, "If Cal could just find a center (supposed to be Madsen's specialty as a big man himself), we could win 5-10 more games a season."
But the real reason to get a threat inside the key is to let our shooters shoot free of their pulled defenders,
A center with hands and quickness (I know a … ahem … tall order) has to be a priority for next season.

Bell was 7-9 from 3 against K State, 5-7 from 3 against UCLA and 1-10 from 3 against Duke.

KenPom defensive ratings:
K State: 103rd
UCLA: 50th
Duke: 6th

So…. I guess thanks for proving my theory?

Dort
Kansas State 10
UCLA 3
Louisville 12
Notre Dame 4
Virginia 0
Virginia Tech 10
Duke 14

Camden
Kansas State 5
UCLA 5
Louisville 3
Notre Dame 3
Virginia 15
Virginia Tech 2
Duke 11

Your theory only works for Bell against Duke (not his other recent games), but doesn't work at all for Dort or Camden who had their best games or second best scoring games among the above games against Duke.

Both need to be open.. maybe set a screen. Not going to make contested threes.

Talented big men simply are not available on our limited NIL budget

With more donated NIL funds (I just increased my annual donation by 20%), Madsen will land the big men that we need.

Thank you again Harky
I know you do so much for the program already

Hopefully Cal can find some new donors to help support the program as I think that's what Madsen needs to get to the next level

Just my opinion, based on what I've seen this season I don't think Bell is in a "shooting slump." Simply put, in the games that he has struggled in this season, the opposing team has decided to play him tighter even when he is not possessing the ball. Chris is a great catch and shoot shooter when he has space to do so but like so many he needs an extra split second in time to do it. Bottom line, its up to Madsen to determine early in a given game if Cal's opponent will be willing to leave Chris alone to double someone else. If not, keep him far outside and open driving lanes for Pippen, Ames, and even Carr.

This is the point I was trying to make further up this thread. You did a better job of it.

On the broadcast, they reported that Camden said he "had been in a shooting slump that he overcame with extra shooting."
