I was at this game:

That seemed a generous fan count to me at the time. I think there were more bottles of Fiji Water consumed by the coaching staff than there were fans in the seats.

Camden and Bell had midseason shooting slumps that had us playing below our potential. When we are hitting we are very dangerous and can beat some good teams.

It was a good win by Cal. They definitely played down to the level of the opponent early. But by the end of the game, they found their footing and played their game. Ideally, this is a game that would've happened early during the pre-conference games, so Cal would be able to learn from it and play better during conference play. But given that the game is during postseason play, I'll take the Cal W and root for the Bears to pull out some more victories!

Seriously, my buddy and I were both at the famous Bakersfield NIT game and we thought tonight's crowd was somewhat larger. Still tremendously disappointing, however.

Dort was awful and lacked focus. Pippen had a rough 1st half but a terrific 2nd half. Ilic was a factor. But the Cal interior defense was dreadful all night. Cal made a lot of 3's. Bell had a night. They forced some live ball turnovers and got some easy hoops.

True enough about the interior defense. But last night was really poor. UIC is not a big team but is active. Cal should have been able to be better inside defensively.
Carr does some good things. He is both quick and fast which is nice to have. But he is a poor shooter and his size makes it hard for him to score off of penetration. But he is a good and willing passer.
