Bears Add Another Piece To 2026 Recruiting Class With 4 Star Combo Guard Gabriel Sularski
The Bears pulled in a late addition to their 2026 recruiting class today, adding Layton Christian Academy small forward Gabriel Sularski.
“For me, it really came down to fit and opportunity,” Sularski noted. “I felt like Cal believed in my ability and saw me as a player who could come in, compete, help the team win, and continue developing.
“I like the direction of the program, the style they want to play, and the experience of the coaching staff. When you combine that with the academics and reputation of Berkeley, it felt like the right decision for me and my family.”
The 6-6/205 4 star (ESPN) SF is a dual citizen of Poland and the U.S. and has played hoops in both countries and represented Poland at the FIBA U16 EuroBasket 2024 in Heraklion, Greece. He was Poland’s leading scorer in the tournament, averaging 16 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 4.4 assists per game in seven appearances. He also played in the U.S. throughout high school and EYBL ball.
The newest Bear got on the recruiting map early, earning offers from Michigan State and Indiana after a strong sophomore season, averaging 14.1 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game for a 27-7 Benet Academy (Lisle, IL) squad that won the Class 4A regional championship.
Sularski transferred to Lemont High School (Lemont, IL) for his junior year, further stepping up his game, averaging 17.6 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists per game as he continued to add offers, including Notre Dame, Northwestern, Missouri and more. He played his senior season at Layton Christian Academy (Layton, UT), averaging 12.7 points, 3.9 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game.
Though he’s played small forward/wing and shooting guard as well, the Bears like his potential at the point going forward so that’s where the newest Bear will get his first shot.
“The staff really values versatility but they see me as a point guard. I think with my size playing at that position gives me lots of advantages which can help the team win which is the ultimate goal.
“I think one of the biggest strengths of my game is my versatility,” Sularski said. “I can impact the game in different ways as a playmaker, scorer, and by making the right reads. Over my high school career I’ve continued improving my overall skill set, understanding of the game, and becoming a more complete player on both ends of the floor. I’ve worked a lot on this offseason expanding my game to become a very efficient 3 level scorer.“
Sularski joins SG Dionycius Bakare and center Nicolas Mitrovic in the Bears’ 2026 prep recruiting class as well as PF/C Dominykas Daubaris, SF Jake Wilkins, SF Amier Ali, wing Nojus Indrusaitis, combo guard Michael Cooper and PG Jordan Ross in the Bears’ 2026 portal class.
