Florida State beat Miami in a home game back on February 8, 87-70. They lost at Miami in January by almost a similar score, 73-89.

S71 you are right that the Stanfurd bigs got stopped. But watching the game several times Miami used their full court press to create turnovers and convert them to easy baskets that provided Miami with a double digit lead. Charmin definitely needs to work the next two days on beating this press or else we will struggle.

Looking at the ACC stats, you are exactly right. We are amazingly close with Miami on most statistical categories. But they hit fewer three's, and we commit more TO's.

They are also 17th in the league in attendance (979 per game). So that should cut into their home court advantage.

I'm sure I'm not alone in thinking that this game may well come down to the 4th quarter. Lately -- with the exception of Virginia Tech -- we've been a strong 4th quarter team after having been quite the opposite. Managing minutes, match-ups and potential foul trouble will be crucial. In other words there's likely to be. heavier burden on the coaches. I currently have more faith in Charmin and company than I have in the past. This will be a real test. Of course it's ultimately on the players but there's no question when needs the coaches on their A game.

The ACC Network is showing Stanford at Florida State tomorrow at 11 am instead of Cal at Miami. The latter game has more importance plus the Bears & the Hurricanes are playing better now.

Taylor is still out. Do we know if she even made the trip to Florida?

Several times Bears have not taken wide open shots and instead rushed to a bad shot. Not sure what they are doing. I count at least 4 times a player was wide open at the arc and didn't shoot for some reason, and twice in the paint they had the layup and instead stopped and spun back into the defender.

They are shooting 67% and we are shooting 27% thus far. Down 25-17.

I feel like a jerk for checking but she has lowest percentage on all three: FG, 3PT, and FT...and looks like she has the highest TO to minutes percentage but I didn't calculate. Needs to work on fitness, positioning, and hand strength.

Walker's 2 early fouls didn't help either.. she needs to be on the court majority of 2nd half

Langarita just did the one thing she should every time - pass it back outside.

If we lost this, win the next two at home, and win at least one in ACC tourney can we still make it in? Or do we need to win out?

I think you can lose to Clemson and still get in. We can't lose to Miami or SMU.

Walker missed the entire second quarter and caused a major mismatch inside. The Miami guards are much more offensive-minded than the Cal backcourt. Bears are weak on defense, allowing 50% shooting by the Hurricanes. Sakima also had difficulty with the taller Kyle when she was on court. Kyle has 9 rebounds and has forced six personal fouls on three Cal post players.

Lulu Twidale is 2 for 7 from deep and will need a reversal like the Florida State game for fthe Bears to have a chance. She has missed at least three wide open three-point opportunities. Miami appears to have a much deeper bench than does Cal, too.

Lulu gives up a three at 3rd quarter buzzer for 8-point deficit. Cal has missed 10 free throws at end of third period.

Kyle was MVP with 16 points & 14 rebounds for a double-double. She got all three Cal posts in foul trouble. Walker was held to 7 points. Three Miami guards went for double figures. The Hurricanes outplayed the Bears for the entire game (IMO). Only Sheppard, Maul, Langarita & Ojukwu displayed maximum effort out on the court. Twidale gave up more threes than she made this afternoon. Lulu hit only 25% on her treys (4-16).

WNIT might be our ultimate postseason destination this season.

If ever there was a game for the Bears to be hot from outside, this is the one. It looks like we will lose a low scoring game determined in the paint. So far, the outside shots are not falling for us but they are at 80%. We need to outshoot them from outside to win this in the second half. Maul and Donez can't pass up those wide open looks.

What a bad way to end 3rd quarter.

Missed FTs are not just hurting - it's killing them through three quarters.
8 of 18 for game. 6 -23 from deep is not helping.

And just the wrong things to happen with 27 seconds to go - miss (why was shot clock at 20?) and then Miami makes a 3.

Both teams are shooting terrible FTs. And bloody ESPN is freezing on us.

Is this the longest TO in Cal history or just ESPN?
