What was Cal's biggest lead? They only prevailed by eight points. Bears yielded 75 points. It was like I envisioned: the Bears had to have one of their highest scoring games (83) to outlast the home team. K State ended the season 18-18 (.500).

I believe that the Columbia game will be the same type of game. GO BEARS!

Columbia has a crazy 12-1 road record. That is insane!

Looking at their game today, three players had 20+ points and all looked like guards/wings.

They were 8-20 on 3s; Cal was 11-24 today.

They go 6 or 7 deep.

In other words, seems both teams are pretty similar...

However, that road record...12-1 is mind boggling - you'd think playing at home would be an advantage...

K State outscores Cal 20-4 down stretch. Six TOs over last 4 1/2m, and overall, the turnovers have jumped from 7 to 20.

but Cal did out score them, does that mean they won?

I've always said, if you come to this forum you will learn new concepts every time!

With her 4 3-pointers in today's game, Lulu now owns Cal's all-time record for both career (234) and single season (98) 3-pointers!

She surpasses Asha Thomas who had 233 3-pointers in four years at Cal.

Lulu is only a Junior.

See you Thursday vs. Columbia!

Go Bears!!

21-14!!

Speak for yourselves, all you lucky Cal fans; I have to take a plane on Tuesday, and I am SO envious of BearBloke, who'll get to trudge up the hill and holler for our Bears. (The game will definitely be at Haas, yes?)

LOL.

Yes! No game time has been announced yet. Presumably 7 PM.

I think if we outscore Columbia we'll probably win the game.

Whoa...SAKIMA!

Absolute beast of a game. Nice support from Lulu and Taylor plus Puff having 7 A and 0 TOs...so far.

Sides for KSU has been held in check...

Close this out Bears!

Gotta be a career game for Sakima. Worth the wait!

I'm delighted that Sakima and Taylor are peaking now, and that Lulu continues being her steady self. Gisella's sort of quiet, though, for her.

Where's your "outrage" over the Cal men's team blowing a big lead? At home, no less.
No, it's easier to take the Cal women and coaches to task. Right?

They won a road game today!

And they're still playing! Hahahaha

Puff played 16 minutes as Gisella Maul is clearly the starter. Will Puff stick around or seek greener pastures?

I think you've asked this question before.

My answer is that she'll be back next season. Puff understands her role. Less pressure coming off the bench. While she was on the injury list, she continued to work with Charmin and watch film. I'm guessing they had some deep conversations. Besides, she'd likely face similar competition elsewhere.

The point guard position becomes deeper next season with the arrival of Ruby Perkins. Mjracle, Puff and Ruby play different styles at that position. Gives the opposing defense something to really think about.

Don't quite see how Puff's minutes are dictated by Gisella "starting." Giselle does not really play point guard. Puff's minutes are a result of Mjracle's effectiveness, and to a lesser effect how much Charmin uses Lola. Like everyone else, I am not a mind reader but- at this point in the season I highly doubt that Puff (who has had to deal with a rough injury this year), is even thinking about next year and where she is going to be. More likely she's excited for another game to play on Thursday.

While Gisella and Puff play different positions and have different roles, Gisella's performance earlier in the season earned her the starting slot. Puff's injury didn't help.

The end result (to me) has been Puff has been better lately and maybe it's because she can 'see' the game and understand what she needs to bring when her number is called.

Also, with Taylor coming back into the lineup (and being effective), the roster is bit more defined. As long as Puff knows her role at this moment, I don't see any issues.

As far as Puff coming back next season? I'll worry about that after the season is over...Columbia (and their 12-1 road record) is the current focus.

I really hope the Bears coaching staff is reading the forum and look into this strategy!

Alternatively -- and hear me out on this one -- we could hold them to less points than we score and win that way.

You know that orange thing I always see bouncing around on the court? Well, what if we throw it in the air and put it through that circle that's up in the air on the stand at the edge of the court? And, if the other team catches on to this strategy, we put it in that circle more times than they do?

It's nice to know that so many here support this theory. However, I can't take credit for it. Someone else came up with it.
