So in his first meet of the season, Alekna goes out easy and breaks the ACC Discuss mark by around 12 feet!!! Wow. And not even that close to some of his best in including the world record. It will kind of fun to how far he pushes the ACC mark this season. Great chance for big numbers at the Oklahoma meet coming soon, which is where he set the world record last year.

I also meant to say, I am not a knowledgeable track and field guy. I watch the Olympics and some World Championships kinda, I know casually who the big names have most of my life since I was a kid, mostly cuz I am sports fan in general. I have become a bit enamored with Cal's throwing squad and coaching, probably because they have been so good, so successful. Especially Camryn Rogers and Mykolas Alekna. As a devout Cal fan, I feel like there should be more fanfare that he is a Cal Bear. But I guess that is the usual for track and field here in the States in general. I mean I resemble that remark lol.

I hope he is wildly successful this year and draws some favorable attention to Cal, and I hope more folks here and elsewhere will trumpet his success. This is my very small attempt to help him get some shine.

i agree that CAL should be making a much bigger deal out of Alekna. Holding a track and field world record is huge
