Where's the guy who swears Cal sucks and Esquer is an incredible coach? He's awfully quiet the last 3 years!
It took Esquer a few years, but he finally tanked the Stanford baseball program, going 75-81 over the last 3 seasons, including 22-38 in conference the previous two seasons. Stanford and Cal face off this weekend in Berkeley. With a single win, Cal can ensure Esquer leads Stanford to yet another losing conference record (they are presently 12-15). Cal isn't doing any better this year, but have gone 9-6 over their last 15 conference games after a sad 1-11 start to the conference season.
Neu may not be the coach to take Cal to the next level, but Esquer is proving that his mediocrity at Cal was his own doing.
