I'm just looking through this thread a bit.
First, let's acknowledge that it's a thankless task to try and moderate the slop that goes back and forth on this site - so, you can't win, and therefore you get a long leash with being wrong.
But I think there's a difference between calling someone certain names vs others.
The term fascism is a political one based on history and it can be discussed at length.
I think that's really weak to include it with other insult words like dick or a-hole or other swear words like cluck-face or be-atch.
Like, if someone thinks that there is a political movement toward fascism (and I'll spare all the definitions of that word) how else would you prefer the person to post? Did you want them to use all the definition words at length rather than the word itself?
A lot of serious minded people have lengthy discussions on the creep toward fascism. Dajo brought it up. You picked a bone with it as if it was a "personal attack".
I'm sorry if I am missing the emotional impact of this "personal attack". I actually am just stumbling into this thread because Barely Sane linked to it elsewhere.. but I am intrigued by the inferred offense of the word Fascism. So, let's perhaps examine what, perhaps Dajo was actually trying to convey.
Is that okay? Or is studying polysci now a bannable action?
Pretty interesting discussion if you ask me. OT is heavily engaged in subtle subconscious cultural and political movements. And this thread is highly centered on exactly that.
