The chocolate place is called Kakawa Chocolate House. Tony there is very friendly.

Also Santa Fe Bite for the green chile burgers.

The Shed or its sister restaurant, La Choza, great food. La Choza is a bit less busy.

I am an East Bay native. Was in Vancouver last summer. Nothing screamed "this would be a good place to live". And that was in July.

I did a lot of traveling around the turn of the century. Sort of a last gasp before I started having kids. Corsica and Crete were highlights. Nowadays, for reasons which I do not comprehend, I have no desire to travel. A lot of my friends, recent empty nesters, are starting to travel in a group. They ask me if I'm interested... and I am not. Maybe after my kids are grown up things will change.

Trading all day and half the night, I never had the time.

Just a heads-up these are no longer sleepy beach communities and they get very crowded certain times of year. The 101 can be a parking lot. If you are looking for that go down to Baja. Especially if you surf. Off season, North San Diego beach areas can be quite pleasant to visit.

I missed the great Chinese food; wish I had known and tried some. I was there for four days for my son's rowing regatta. The people seemed nice until I told 'em, "51st state, m***** f*****s!!!" They did have a nice Greek Festival: a family "adopted" me for the evening.

Canadians are so nice, I'm surprised they didn't have a good chuckle about the 51st state.

Richmond is a suburb of Vancouver that has amazing Chinese food.

2 of the best breakfast places I have ever been are in Vancouver (Jam Cafe, amazing red velvet pancakes) and Cafe Medina.

And 49th Parallel has great coffee and makes awesome donuts.

I am almost convincing myself that I should move to BC
