Bearister has posted this twice already in other threads. That being said, I disagree with Trump celebrating his death

"Mueller sabotaged Trump's first term and tried to put him in prison.."

Yeah, he tried real hard, didn't he?

Mueller literally selected every option along the route so as not to ruin Trump or put him in prison:

1.Reaching a Conclusion on Obstruction

The most common criticism is that Mueller declined to make a "prosecutorial judgment" on whether Trump obstructed justice.
PBS

The Choice: Mueller cited a long-standing DOJ Office of Legal Counsel (OLC) opinion that a sitting president cannot be indicted. He argued that because he could not charge Trump, it would be unfair to accuse him of a crime without a trial to defend himself.

The Alternative: He could have followed the lead of past independent counsels (like Leon Jaworski in Watergate) and named the president as an "unindicted co-conspirator" or explicitly stated that Trump's conduct met the legal elements of obstruction. Hundreds of former federal prosecutors later signed an open letter stating that if Trump were anyone else, he would have been charged based on Mueller's evidence.

2. Demanding an In-Person Interview

Mueller never forced Trump to sit for an in-person interview, which could have been used to pin down his intent and state of mind.
The New Yorker

The Choice: To avoid a lengthy court battle over a subpoena, Mueller accepted written answers.

The Alternative: He could have issued a grand jury subpoena for the President's testimony. Legal experts argue that while it would have caused a major legal delay, it was a necessary step for a "harder" investigation.
The New Yorker

3. Expanding the Scope (Finances)

Mueller largely avoided investigating Trump's personal and business finances unless they directly related to the 2016 election.
The New Yorker

The Choice: He focused strictly on the mandate of investigating Russian interference and coordination.

The Alternative: He could have followed "money trails" that were later picked up by New York state and local prosecutors, such as those involving the Trump Organization's financial records.

4. Direct Communication Style

Mueller was famously reticent and focused on the written report, which allowed others, notably then-Attorney General William Barr,to frame the narrative first.
BBC

The Choice: Mueller relied on his 448-page report and offered terse, often one-word answers during his congressional testimony.

The Alternative: A "harder" approach might have involved more direct and forceful public statements to clarify his findings, particularly after Barr released a summary that Mueller himself privately complained did not "fully capture the context, nature, and substance" of the investigation."

Why don't you take us through my discussion of Mueller backing off Trump at the junctures listed and point out how it is not true.

This is yet another example of co opting a statement from Goebbels that is wholly applicable to Trump and projecting it on to others:

Trump has a well documented history of repeating false or misleading claims across a wide range of topics, from election integrity and the economy to immigration and personal achievements. Fact-checkers have noted that the repetition of these claims can sometimes lead to them being accepted as truth by his supporters.
Brookings

As of March 2026, some of the most frequently repeated claims include:

Election Integrity:
The 2020 Election was "Rigged": Despite numerous audits and investigations finding no evidence of widespread fraud, he continues to claim the 2020 election was "stolen".

2024 Election "Cheating": During his 2024 campaign, he repeatedly claimed that the only way he could lose was if the Democrats "cheat," a claim he has continued to use to describe his opponents.

Non-citizen Voting: He frequently alleges that millions of undocumented immigrants are being registered to vote by Democrats to swing elections, despite data showing such occurrences are extremely rare.

Immigration:
Prisons and Mental Institutions: He often claims that foreign leaders are deliberately emptying their prisons and "insane asylums" to send criminals and patients into the U.S., a claim that remains unsubstantiated.

Migrant Crime Wave: He has frequently spoken of a "migrant crime wave," which is not supported by national crime data.

The Economy:
"Greatest Economy Ever": He regularly claims that the U.S. economy during his first term was the greatest in history, a statement that is contrary to historical data.

Tariff Payments: He continues to assert that foreign countries pay for U.S. tariffs, when in fact they are paid by U.S. importers and often passed on to consumers.

Foreign Policy:
The War in Ukraine: He has repeatedly stated that he would have ended the war in Ukraine "within 24 hours" if he had been in office, and has falsely claimed that Ukraine "started" the war.

NATO Spending: He often misrepresents how NATO is funded, claiming that other countries "owe" the U.S. money or that he was responsible for all increases in defense spending by allies.

Legal Issues and Investigations:
"Election Interference": He has characterized nearly all legal investigations and indictments against him as "election interference" orchestrated by his political opponents.

The "Russia Hoax": He consistently refers to the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election as a "hoax" and claims he was "fully exonerated," despite the special counsel's report stating otherwise.
