…the arch would be more than double the height of the Lincoln Memorial.

When asked by CBS News' Ed O'Keefe who the arch is for, Mr. Trump pointed to himself.

"Me," he said.

I know the spot well.
This disgusts me to no end.

I'm guessing this would be the second tallest behind the Washington Memorial.

The man just will never stop.
We probably have seen nothing yet.
And then everyone will be so sad.
But it will be too late.

My gosh, I just cannot stand self promotion like this.

After doing a little digging…the size of the arch is part of a design intended to frame the Arlington House (Robert E Lee's home). For history buffs there's an interesting back story about Arlington House, Lee and the Cemetary and I suppose, for me, that back story and the framing of the house is enough to swallow the size of the monument, which on its face seems gaudily large.

Ramses II.

That's a good point. Why didn't he consider a pyramid?
He could be buried in there.

Your title is misleading. The arch has been discussed here quite a bit already.

To your point, a couple of Vietnam Vets are suing to stop the construction of this gaudy Arch that will clearly disrupt the symbolic connection between the Lincoln Memorial and the Robert E. Lee Memorial.

The Arch would be more than DOUBLE the height of the Lincoln Memorial.

For a group of Vietnam vets, opposing Trump's arch is about being "loyal to the country" - CBS News

I do not know that they are making it but considering the design's intent of framing Arlington House I could see a reasonable argument being made that the arch enhances that connection.

(FWIW...from memory from our tour some years ago...Lee was offered command of the US Army but resigned his commission to fight for the Confederacy. Lincoln (?) confiscated Lee's house in retribution for Lee being a traitor to the Union; making it a cemetery for those killed in the war was the ultimate eternal FU to Lee's actions)

Based on the Trump Administration's amateur hour foreign policy, future returning astronauts to earth are liable to find his monument like this one:

Cancel my subscription to the Resurrection
Send my credentials to the House of Detention
I got some friends inside

“I love Cal deeply, by the way, what are the directions to The Portal from Sproul Plaza?”

It could happen sooner than that, if I had my way (and it wouldn't involve nuclear Armageddon!)
