Maybe one of our top DL commits in recent history! Glad you're remaining a Golden Bear, JD! Go Bears!
The Bears’ future defense got stouter in the middle with the commitment of big 6-2/290 South Oak Cliff (Dallas, Texas) defensive tackle Jaderian Jones today. The big DT will remain a Golden Bear, moving from his prep Golden Bears squad to his new collegiate Golden Bears squad next season in Berkeley.
The 3 star DT took his official visit to Cal over the weekend and reaffirmed his earlier inclination to commit to Cal after an April visit to Berkeley.
Jones anchored one of the top defenses in Texas last season as South Oak Cliff won the Class 5A Division II state championship, beating Randle 35, which was the program’s third title in five years, adding 75 tackles, 6 sacks and 21 tackles for loss. Despite his size, Jones displays quickness off the ball and used his size and speed combo to wreak havoc in opposing offenses’ backfields throughout the season.
After Jones had early favorites of Vandy and Mississippi State and later SMU, the Bears beat out a host of other programs, including Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Notre Dame, UCLA, Miami, Ole Miss and more for Jones’ commitment.
He becomes the 16th commitment of the Bears’ 2027 recruiting class, joining 4 star QB commit Dane Weber, WRs Charles Davis III (Westlake) and Blake Gunter (Southlake, TX), TE Rahzario Edwards (Grant Union), RBs Jaxsen Stokes (Sierra Canyon) and Antwon Sanders (CE King/Houston), OT Josh Bunni, DLs Troy Bowens (Sutter) and Miles Schirmer (Corona Centennial) edge Giovanni Hodge (Grant Union) linebackers Elyjah Staples (Marquez-Huntington Beach) and Gunnar Perry (Notre Dame Prep/Scottsdale, AZ), CB Duvay Williams (Junipero Serra), safety Myles Baker (Sierra Canyon) and kicker Zach Brien (IMG Academy). He was the fourth commitment of their first official visit weekend of the season and fifth of the week with Thursday’s commitment from Elite 11 QB Weber.
