I don't know who needs to see this but they need to see this.
For as long as I can remember we have never had a game on Fleet Week Weekend.
We finally do.
Don't f' up the opportunity to have a flyover by the blue angels.
They typically headline the airshow at 4pm ish for the Saturday show.

Looking at vatechs cakewalk into that game there's a very real chance that they will be undefeated under Franklin, as will we.

Vatech plays VMI, ODU, Maryland, Pitt and BC prior to us

We have fUCLA, Cuse, Wagner, Clemson, and the fighting Longshores prior to vatech

At a minimum we need to get a flyover from the blue angels in all of their blue and gold glory assuming we get a 4pm or 5pm start.

And preferably we need gameday that weekend.
Yes it's Alabama Georgia and Texas OU that weekend but I think we'll offer the only ranked vs ranked matchup that weekend.
A gameday during fleet week would be unreal and it needs to f'ing happen!

I get the optimism for Cal and VaTech to both be undefeated when 10/10 rolls around. Ostensibly neither team is facing any team that would generally be considered "elite" prior to that game, and there would be interesting story lines as that would mean Franklin seemingly stepped in and has immediately turned around VaTech's fortunes.

Same for Tosh at Cal and a chance to highlight some of the structural and financial changes at Cal.

A Blue Angels would be an awesome flyover if it could be arranged.

Admittedly I didn't look at the entire college football schedule for that day, but if Georgia-Alabama and Texas-OU are two "brand name" matchups, not sure how you concluded that Cal-VaTech would be the only likely matchup of two Top-25 teams.

Do you anticipate either Georgia or Alabama to have 2 losses by then? Because I would be stunned if either team didn't start the season ranked substantially higher than either Cal or VaTech (both more likely to be unranked than ranked, in my opinion) - meaning it would probably take a 2nd loss by either Georgia or Alabama to get knocked out of the Top-25 by then.

Anyways, I sure hope we'd get a flyover, and I agree there is a good opportunity to start the season 5-0 and ranked. Would personally be shocked if CGD ended up in Berkeley for that game though.
