The Cal women's rugby team hosted the stanford women at Memorial Stadium on Saturday.
They played hard and passionately but were overcome by a very strong stanford lineout performance, and lost (I accidentally erased final score, but they lost by about 3 scores).
The stanford lineouts were extremely effective and hurt the Bears all afternoon. And as hard as the Bears played, they just couldn't overcome a few mistakes that allowed stanford to get the win.
The Bears now await to see where they are seeded in the national playoffs.
BTW, Mariah Overby is in the running for the national collegiate playe of the year in the U.S. She is everything as advertised. Very impressive player.
