The FSU Seminoles board ranks all the uniforms in the ACC. Not surprisingly:

#1. Florida State

Surprisingly:

#16. Stanford
#17. Cal

Cal brought its Pac-12 sensibility into a second ACC season, and the uniforms still feel like they belong somewhere else. The Golden Bears' navy and gold combination is perfectly respectable, but nothing about it commands attention in a conference that has raised the style bar considerably.

The ACC raised it's style bar? Huh?

Florida State isn't even a legacy ACC member. They were just in the first wave of expanding the conference in the 1990s.

Not that I generally give a rat's ass about what somebody at FSU thinks, but I think they're right. Cal and Furd unis are pedestrian, and have been for years. Especially the Cal script, when we could just as easily have a cool looking bear as the primary logo. However, the solution is an easy one. Make the 70s era "Joe Roth" uniforms the standard ones, with only occasional deviations for special games if the players want that. Best unis Cal has ever had, and a weekly tribute to the classiest player ever to don a Cal football uniform. Easy decision from my perspective.

No disrespect to you and especially Joe Roth, but, like many of the fashions of the late 70s, I don't like the UCLA blue and yellow of the Roth uniforms.

I like our classic dark blue and gold (not yellow) uniforms. No white stripes. Gold contrasting with dark blue, and a mostly dark, blue, glossy helmet, I don't need script Cal, it can be a C, a bear claw, the state map, but don't mess with the colors and I don't care if Florida State fans like them or not.

Our uniforms are fine as is. They're very classy and timeless. Screw Florida State and their stupid chant.

I'd be just fine with those unis as well. Those were the unis the Bears had when I first started attending Cal games as a kid, and they always had a certain timeless look that would still look great today.

I've always found there to be a gray area in between what we call "gold" and some variation of yellow.

Give me a break. Cal uniforms look timeless. FSU uniforms look like a Marriott lobby with shoulder pads.

Just me but im not a huge fan of the bar on our sleeves. The lines are way too big for my liking. I actually think these were our best uni and combo

Hated them. The yellow helmet. The stripes. Looked like Ssn Jose State.
