ND lost at the FT line, making just 10 of 26. And we had only 3 TO.
The TV replay shows Ames being lightly pushed well before he jumped for the last shot. What's the rule covering continuation?
But the ref only calls a foul as Ames is going into his shooting motion.
To me it looked like the foul was well before the shooting motion. I saw a light push, then Ames set his feet, then jumped, then released the shot. I'm not sure about what constitutes a shooting motion.
there was a grab and a foul that should have been called earlier in the play, but was not, then it was clear they were intentionally trying to foul so the lighter slap actually WAS called, and it was just as Ames was gathering to shoot. So he got the call. It was a missed call, but then the correct call, and then wrong to overturn, and right to overturn again.
Also, props to 33 of ND. A cool head trying to keep the peace between the coach and officials. He may play like a dirt ball, but that was classy at the end. ND coach probably gets a one-game, self-imposed suspension for this.
