Running into Pearbear at half time. You can't do that watching TV. For you newer posters, Pearbear used to do the write ups of the games and he was the best writer period. But he got married and had a child and moved to LA, Covid stopped him from returning and now they are esconched there. I hope I am not giving up too much about him. His partner's parents are there and help with childcare. He was up here for Vietnamese New Year. It was so good to see him.

Stats didn't tell us the story here. Their bench supplied their best player. We spent all our energy on defense and it got us in foul trouble. Mjaricle and Sakima were done in. Plus the refs seem to call a foul on the defensive layer every time they held their ground on a drive to the basket. Mjaricle guarded their second leading scorer and did a good job except she was 10 for 10 from the free throw line.

I'm going to Big Sur and Hearst's Castle over the next few days. May not post for a few days.

It was great to see him! I was able to say hello after the game. His write-ups/observations were always so good.

The Bears played hard, but were worn out by the end. I wasn't too thrilled with the refs though. The game wasn't decided by them but jeeeze, some of their foul calls were inexplicable. I suppose that's true most every game though.

Onward and upward Bears. Love this team.

It was so wonderful to reconnect this weekend. And thank you both for your kind words.

I really miss the games and the community. I always thought if I was ever fortunate enough to have a kid, I'd get to bring them to Cal WBB games regularly. Of course now that we've moved away, that's no longer possible. But on Sunday, Theo screaming his head off, "Go Bears! You can do it!" gave me such joy.

He loved getting the mini basketball with Lulu's autograph, and I pointed her out to him at the beginning of the game. Later, he asked, "Where did she go?" My answer, "I know, right, she's on the court, but it's as if she's not there. The other team's defense has rendered her almost invisible." Sigh.

But at the end of the day, it was so great to come back to Haas with my family. And the Bears have made this season an intriguing one. To have meaningful games this late is really fun for us fans.

Go Bears!
