I've seen a lot of Californa basketball and I have to say the Bears' third quarter performance was one of the worst ten minutes I've seen from a Bear team. Charmin diplomatically praised Santa Clara after the game but that was not a good team and we should have won by 30. Still give credit to the Bears for pulling it out in the end. Clutch performances all around and now it's on to KSU. BTW Haas was just this side of a sauna tonight, must have been rough on the players. Oh by the way....Go Bears!!!

Not sure if Cal should have won by 30; however, they survived and they're advancing. Hopefully with the lesson learned that you have to come out ready to play.

Was nice to have Taylor back. Both Taylor and Puff made winning plays and there were no stats to show. First, when Lulu was on the fast break, Puff ran hard to make it a 2-on-1 and the defender kicked her feet out to try to block the pass she thought was coming...but Lulu euro-stepped and finished the and-1 to give the Bear the important two possession lead.

Taylor, after a Sakima miss, ran hard back on defense and got in the passing lane to force an overthrown pass, resulting in a turnover.

Those two plays were effort plays, which were lacking in the first three quarters.

They were winning plays.

Cal is fortunate to advance, after falling behind by as many as 8 in the 2nd half.

They will have to be a lot better against KSU.

Hope Mjracle is okay. Just when we got Puff back, Taylor went down. Now that Taylor is back I hope Mjracle can be back so as to not repeat history...

She was holding her shoulder when she came out and had ice on her shoulder for the handshake line.

Well, Cal will travel to Kansas St to play on Sunday. Should Cal win, and Columbia upset #1 North Dakota State (Columbia beat St. John's today), Cal would host Thursday 3/26. Columbia beat St. John's 74-26

Right about the 3rd quarter. SC didn't have to run any plays, whoever had the ball just drove around their defender for a layup.

If our threes had been falling it would have been a rout. But our guards rebounded really well and we made just enough twos and free throws.

Good to see Lulu doing everything else when her threes were off. Good to see Sakima finishing around the basket. Good to see Grace playing some solid defense. Not good to see Mjracle damage her shoulder near the end of the game. - it was covered with ice during the post-game walk around.

10 players got some time, I would like to have seen Naya get more than 4 minutes against the small-ish Broncos.

Tiny crowd, maybe half of the 1250 claimed to have been at the men's game last night. At least the band had one tuba.

Santa Clara's last game was 10 days ago They got to the 2nd round of the WCC Tournament

St John's scored only 4 points in the 1st quarter. Also 4 points in the 3rd. Also 4 points in the 4th. Their 2nd quarter was better with 14. They made 1 of 20 threes, 11 of 26 twos, and 1 of 3 free throws. More than twice as many turnovers (27) as field goals (12). Gad!

In the first half I think Cal had close to 10 wide open 3s, including several for our best shooters ... I thought there was no way that would continue in the second half

although we did better in the second half it was a really poor shooting game and SC packed it in the paint to defend our drive

but as they say... a win is a win

BUT, a win is not a win if we lose Sheppard to injury. I didn't see when it happened so don't know how the injury occurred, but she was obviously in pain with a big ice pack on her right shoulder (I think) which is her shooting arm

Wow, the team looked rusty, especially in the first half. The one thing we did better than usual - only 11 turnovers for the whole game, that's quite good for us.

on calbears women's team schedule page, for many years, most always appeared a tv icon which, when clicked, asked for and confirmed credentials (ie - xfinity subscriber), whereupon streaming ensued.

well, until yesterday, no soap.

ah well, things change, and the season's nearly over, but the unexpected last minute fail was a big surprise.

Normal ESPN credentials (ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU) that you get through cable, or Sling in my case, don't work for ESPN+. Always been that way as far as I can remember.

I paid $13 for a month of ESPN+ just to watch the SC game and whatever they advance to after. I think the semis and final will be on ESPN-regular though. KS St. is on plus.

You can also bundle it with Disney/Hulu if you already have those. Has commercials. Also the games are available on replay for a while so you could watch the SC game if you missed it. But you really don't want to….

I attended this one. With the combination of the noise and heat, it was as bad a game day experience as could be designed. Nothing like this at games I have been to at Stanford and St. Mary's. Announced crowd of 665. Has our marketing staff been infiltrated by Stanford loyalists?
