We've lost 9 of our last 10 ACC games.

Thankfully, we have some non-conference games in between to help cushion the blow... although we did lose to San Jose State this past week.

I attended 2 of the 3 games this week, and I'm living by the rule: if you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all.

I really hope the coaching staff is seriously thinking about how we can make some impactful off-season moves to put us in a better position next year.

I stopped watching after three innings and Florida State run-ruled Cal, 16-3, in 5 innings. This is by far the worst pitching staff that the Bears have fielded in recent years. Today they yielded 16 runs on 16 hits plus 9 walks. This is 25 Seminole's base runners in five innings or 5 per inning on average. It was glorified batting practice with 4 more HRs by Fla St. Chelsea Spencer and the pitching coach need to rethink their approach to college softball and hit the transfer portal hard to land some competent pitching. Clemson swept Cal in South Carolina but this is the most embarrassing home sweep that I can recall. Has there been any humiliation that was even close to this weekend? The Bears still must face Stanford in Palo Alto and Virginia Tech in Berkeley coming up.

At this stage I don't even think we make the ACC softball tournament. Regionals looked doubtful. Remember a few months ago we were all talking about Coach Spencer getting another inning eater. Well how about this off season let's really get one.

I can't recall a more lopsided series result. Ouch!

St Mary's Gaels have two solid pitchers and one promising power hitter. The two pitchers are soph Nishikawa & junior Vasquez (see their ERAs). Their best hitter is soph 3B, Sam Buckley. She has 11 HRs and has a .456 BA% and a .559 OB%. Mia Nishikawa went the distance against Florida State and only yielded 3 runs. She struck out six Seminoles. Her out pitch is the change-up. Cal has done nothing with the off speed pitch but has hit three solo HRs off of fast balls.

Since Cal is losing their best players in most sports to the transfer portal and NIL money, why not cherry pick some other team's best players, too.

Holly Medina has had a particularly good day for us today (4 hits). She's up to .294 on the season. Good to see some of the bottom half really contribute.

3 outs from the sweep.

Holly Medina is getting better. She batted 6th in the batter order today without Mika Lee playing in either end of the DH. Mia Phillips was dropped down to the seventh spot. The freshman got her 1st extra base hit in three weeks or longer (before the Clemson series) with a double to break up the no-hitter.

Cal used to have 7 or 8 dangerous hitters in the lineup but today it was down to only five. I hope that Mika Lee returns for the Stanford series and Mia Phillips begins to return to form if Cal expects to win games in Palo Alto.

Losing Herrera really hurt this year. Getting her back along with our 2025 class is really going to help in 2026.

All 4 of our recruits could start next year offensively.
