Appreciate your informed take on all of this,
swimmer19!
Would seem from their visits that locals
#16 Isabel Wu &
#20 Mia Su have their eyes on academics (
Cal, the Farm, Duke, Ivy Leagues),
HM Sofia Szymanowski may be targeting major swim programs with an academics reputation (
Cal, UVA, Michigan) on top of her local SoCal schools (USC, UCLA)
Would love to welcome any of the above 3 recruits here, but inevitably the buzz, and our collective hopes/dreams here lol, revolve round
#1 Audrey Derivaux &
#2 Rylee Erisman!
------------
Rylee Erisman Breaks Gretchen Walsh's National High School Record in 100 Freestyle" Erisman's time was the second-fastest of her career, trailing only the 46.69 she managed at last year's Winter Juniors-East. In addition to breaking Walsh's overall national high school record, which was set in 2020, Erisman lowered the public-school standard of 47.09, formerly held by Olympian
Abbey Weitzeil.
Erisman also won the 50 freestyle on Friday night, behind a time of 21.67. That mark was not far off Walsh's national record of 21.59.
At last summer's World Junior Championships, Erisman was a star for the United States. On top of winning gold medals in the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle, the teenager won the silver medal in the 200 freestyle and exited with four relay medals."

Rylee Erisman Breaks Gretchen Walsh's 100 Free National High School Record with 46.73"Only a junior,
Rylee Erisman of Windermere High School broke
Gretchen Walsh's five-year old National High School record with a 46.73 in the 100 free today at Florida's 4A State Championships.
Erisman
just-missed Weitziel's 100 free public schools record at last year's meet when she swam 47.14. Weitzeil is a six-time Olympic medalist.
While Erisman has not yet announced her college commitment, she took official visits to Texas, Tennessee, Michigan,
Cal, and Virginia."

NJ Cav wrote:"In Rylee's most recent Social Kick interview, she mentioned deciding on college in late October or November and specifically said she didn't want wait until March to decide, but I do wonder if she is reconsidering that.
She and Audrey don't have to worry about any school finding a spot for them regardless of when they decide, and when they graduate in 2027, they also need to decide whether to start college right away or delay college until after the Olympics.
Given that Virginia's Instagram account is no longer following Rylee or Audrey, it seems to indicate that Virginia is out of the running, unless this is all a ploy to confuse SwimSwam commenters. Given her previous statement that she would decide by this month, perhaps we will find out this week."
heck no replied to NJ Cab: "I would not be positive Rylee will wait for her class. Switching to a new coach going into an Olympic year feels too chaotic. She broke the record, there's nothing left to do in high school. Virginia is out. Texas or
Cal starting next year. "
Nacho Average Swimmer wrote:"If Rylee goes Tennessee it's over for Virginia. The lady vols take over from there."
Cannonball replied to Nacho Average Swimmer:"With all the other commitments TN has had, it feels like she actually told them no, which allowed them to offer more to others etc.
Cal / Virginia (logically) make the most sense.
Excited to see what's to come!"
Bobthebuilderrocks wrote:"My take is Audrey is still in play but Rylee is not (with UVa). Which makes sense as I think Braden talked about
Cal being the front runner to get Erisman's commitment (as do the people on this
Cal forums I look at occasionally) and I haven't heard anything concrete for Deriveaux so she's probably still in play."
VA Steve replied to Bobthebuilderrocks : "In this day of
NIL, I don't count out anything. Commitments and lots of other things have changed and will continue to do so especially at their level."
Crooked lane lines replied to Bobthebuilderrocks : " 99% she's Texas……" (referring to Audrey Derivaux)VFLwrote:"Is she (Rylee) definitely
Cal bound?"
This Guy replied to VFL:"Bob (Bowman, TX) is bumping up his offer as we speak"
Foreign Embassy replied to VFL:"I certainly hope so. She'd join her brother, right? And if she and Audrey both committed to
Cal that would be amazing."
