There was no way Cal was going to match what Clemson offered in terms of money, facilities and fan support. But, Knowlton/J&J certainly made the Howells open to making a move - and the word had to be out that the Howells were open to making a move - and then the move was made.
Not sure what happened with Stack-Eaton and the gymnasts. On paper, it looked like a good fit. But, the Stack-Eaton leaves Minnesota and Minnesota goes to the Final Four on the Floor .... And they can't find a spot for Lauzon to stay? Meanwhile, the portal period is just starting for gymnastics so we will see...
Frankly, Ondine is still just a promise of greatness. Was her second injury due to the coaching staff? I don't know. But, internet suggests she thinks so. She may just never be healthy enough to make a difference in the NCAAs. Don't know what went down with Wiley and why? And we dont know the full story about why the vault was set improperly for Tonya. But all three are being used to suggest a coaching staff/gymnast disconnect.

Our roster seems to have a lot of four stars on it that haven't quite accomplished what their rating entails. Wiley was one of those. I disagree with S71 here. I think stack eaton has a plan, and if they cut Wiley Surely they had a legitimate reason.
I've given up Online. It's no fun waiting and waiting and waiting for a player to come back from an injury and then they decide to leave. This seems to happen a lot with Cal Athletics especially basketball. There's plenty of players in the portal we can assess, including a lot from Oregon State. SE. seems to be able to recruit they got the four-star flip and I think they will add some great gymnasts in the off season.
Im hoping it was just a clash of personalities between Wiley and GSE. Ondine comments make it seem like it was more than that. GSE keeps Paulsson and lets see how they do this year. Paulsson bails and maybe there is legit smoke.
Jayden Silvers sister Jillian is transferring from UofA and Cal is also getting Lisa Szeibert from Mizzou. I think both would be Juniors? But no rotation experience this far in their collegiate careers
There are some gymnasts who want to come to Cal.

Without knowing anything it seems as GES is recruiting gymnasts who were good enough (or even 4 stars) but, for whatever reason, have not seen the floor that much.
I guess that gives GES a lot of room to coach these athletes up to GES standards.
As a Cal fan, I'm every quietly optimistic.
Aberdeen O'Driscoll did participate in a couple of meets as a freshman. She scored a high of 9.85 on the balance beam in an SEC meet. She is an import from Belgium. If my memory serves me, she did not participate last season (2026).

Haven't seen any rumors since the initial speculation weeks ago about Tonya Paulsson.... still probably need a couple more days for all the portal entries to be processed right?
Once we get firm understanding of what the roster will look like in a week or so, then I'd love to hear people's thoughts on next season?
Maybe the whole coach/Wiley thing was a clash of personalities that Ondine got dragged into and unfortunately also got personal with her.

Do you think it was a 2-fer? Wiley didn't have a great season and was thinking she was included only if Ondine came over too? Thought Ondine has been injured for two seasons, she potential was the one targeted.
The Cal spreadsheet was great! It has six new recruits listed. I'm only aware of three of them that were announced last November. I cannot recall Lucy Eanes, Jade Gola or Ella Rausa. Has there been public announcements of those three? Maybe I'm beginning to have memory problems. Please point me in the right
direction so I can read about them. Thank you.

Hmmmm? The date on the instagram shows June 15th...perhaps there is another incoming recruit?
Some 2028 recruits commented under the post so maybe a camp?
The count down is still on...! What is going to happen on June 15th? The gymnastic camps start on June 21st.
I'll keep my fingers crossed that it is something positive for the team. I have zero feel for how competitive Cal will be next season with the multitude of personnel changes that have occurred. GO BEARS!
