And Pichardo just hit 2 homeruns in her summer league game against d1 pitchers. Me thinks Steve Singleton knows some talent

Welcome, Megan! Cal can certainly use another pitcher that can get DI hitters out. Will she have one or two years of eligibility? She only had 41/3 IP last season as a junior.

It's hard to say without knowing every player whose scholarship wasn't renewed. I know of some but certainly not all of the conversations that were had.

We bring in 4 new arms next year and all seem to be an improvement over the current roster. That alone should significantly boost the program. Offense will not be an issue next year.

In the meantime, Alana Clincy, our pitcher commit is at the invite only IDT Boulder and her team-Cal Nugget is 10-0. The team is 3 games away from taking the championship. Their first test this morning is against USA Athletics Rogers. One of our commits is on the team as well. (I forget the name and am traveling so don't have time to look up). If successful, they will meet either TX Blaze or OC Batbuster for the semis where winner moves onto Alabama Thunderbolts, Nebraska Gold, IL Chill, or NJ Pride for the Championship.

Batbusters took the whole thing. Well, Cal Nuggets went 10-1. The player for USA Athletics to whom I referred to is Charlotte White ( 3B, OF, CF ).

I'd agree that almost any change in the pitching group would have to be positive but significant? Better defense is also a must.

Good point of clarification. 4 being our 3 transfers (Gregory, Berlingeri and Koontz) plus Alanna Clincy. 4 in total.

In 2027 we have Mikayla Finn (Lady Magic) and Daniella Boccanfuso (Athletics Mercado).

Do not even get me started on the atrocious effort put into calbears.com… incomplete softball bios, broken links. Where do I complain? It's pathetic for a D1, storied program, BUT…

You can clearly see now, on our 'stats' page, a bunch of players who've been deleted, yet their numbers still show. Again, it's just atrocious that someone isn't paying attention to this. We aren't a JUCO program. Gerhard, Peacock, and Waters are 'deleted' from the stats page… it only shows their numbers. So I'm guessing Peacock, Gerhard and Waters aren't returning.

To my point... 8 players have "disappeared" from the stats (yikes?) and only shows a #. This leads me to believe those 8 folks aren't returning.

Megan is a great get. I think this is a 40 win team
If Clincy explodes as a frosh, and Mya. Has a huge bounce back soph year, this could be a super regional team.

Kyndall Todd and Harmony Andrade had potential, but both are gone. Last season, Singleton had 20 players on the roster but only a dozen return. D'Auna Johnson graduated but the other seven departed.

For everyone who thinks the coach is all peaches and cream, I've been saying that I believe there are issues behind the scenes.

Now the assistant coach - Danielle Gibson Whorton is leaving for Arizona, and from my perspective that raises questions. It also makes me wonder whether the environment for the coaching staff is as challenging as it seems to be for the players.

I hope the program takes a hard look at its culture because the athletes and coaches deserve an environment where they're respected and supported.

I absolutely imagine there were some underlying issues this year. An entire year on the road, a group of student athletes he inherited and had to get to know, etc. It was a rough, losing season with a team that didn't have the talent to compete in the ACC. It's okay to say that. It's the truth.

I also believe the vast majority of people in the sport that have glowing, positive things to say about Coach Singleton, and I believe the coach has a right to build his team. I'm extremely excited to see a season with some normalcy and a home base. Hell, I've managed many teams in my life, and even I have the self-awareness to know I would've struggled! I would've struggled…a lot.

I hear you.

Why wouldn't someone leave for Arizona. Their program is better than ours by a lot. Let's say she is getting paid the same, I doubt that, but the cost of living in Tucson is incomparable to the Bay.

You'd be crazy not to make the move right now.
