Trump clearly lied about Epstein and the Iran war to start with. Many independents held out some hope he would deliver on his promises and have since been very disillusioned and disappointed with Trump.
There are certainly people, both independents and MAGA, who are disappointed that the DOJ hasn't arrested anyone they deemed significant, either his political enemies or those associated with Epstein. There are certainly people who are disappointed that we attacked Iran.
The DOJ did release millions of Epstein files that the left now has diminishing interest in because they don't implicate Trump in any wrongdoing. By the way, this didn't start as a campaign promise as it was Trump's response to a particular podcaster (Lex Friedman) that "he'll look into it."
As for Iran, if this thing ends up going on forever, then sure, Trump deserves all the criticism but for now, I don't see any inconsistencies between what he said during campaigning and even much earlier than that. His positions were clear.
And so, while independents may be disillusioned with Trump now, there's still a lifetime away until the midterms. If what has already happened is too much to overcome, you should see the abysmal approval numbers for Democrats.
