When the Administration isn't f@ucking up wars, reflective pools, and spreading measles, they are grossing out their coworkers and families with their turbocharged sauerkraut fueled f@rts:

"Members of President Donald Trump's cabinet have recently embraced a new diet centered around fermented cabbage despite the trade-off being "sulfurous odors that have been the cause of some domestic friction" in the White House, according to a report."*

With guys like Trump, you just can't let stuff like this go because he is so obsessed with it and it is a metaphor for his Administration.

Maureen Dowd dedicates her column to the reflective pool today because she gets it too. Her piece probably just bought her an IRS audit….or worse.

President Trump responds to the effort via Truth Social:

"We've cleaned, renovated, and beautified over 45 Monuments and Memorials, 28 Statues, and 22 Fountains in Washington, D.C. Things are really looking good in our Nation's Capital, and add to that the fact that when I became President, Crime was rampant, and now, Washington, D.C., is one of the Safest Cities anywhere in the United States. However, we've had some real problems with Vandalism at the beautiful Reflecting Pool, which sits between The Washington Monument and The Lincoln Memorial.

"Just like three days ago, they destroyed the grass outside of the Pool, they've also done everything possible to hurt the inside surface that was just installed. No different than the chemicals that were used on the National Mall, they used something similar in the Reflecting Pool to try to destroy and demean our beautiful work. Lightweight ABC Reporter, Jonathan Karl, was seen sticking his hand into the Pool, and trying to rip the rubber off of the surface. The algae is 75% gone, and the condition will soon be completely remedied, and the area that was vandalized, fortunately, is just a small area of damage, and will be fixed early next week. It's a shame that the Radical Left Lunatics, most likely Dumocats, who have spent their lives trying to ruin our Country, are free to do so. Law Enforcement is actively investigating this situation and will hopefully have it resolved soon. Thank you for your attention to this matter!"

*That Truth Social post confirms my statement that he is obsessed with the reflection pool. The Iran situation is a worldwide crisis and this is what has his focus? How grand.

Is there a line that Trump could cross that would remove your motivation to respond to every BI post that criticizes him?

Yes, vandals caused damage to the project and they should be criminally prosecuted, but do you really believe that their actions amount to anything more than a pimple on an elephant's arse?

Do you really believe that if they surrounded the reflection pool with National Guardsman locking arms 24/7 that it would address the underlying structural, biological and ecological issues with the project?

Why doesn't Trump just ask his Afrikaner trillionaire bestie to do this for him:

Converting the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool into a functional, giant swimming pool would cost an estimated $100 million to over $350 million, with tens of millions of dollars required annually for ongoing maintenance and chemical treatments.

It can be the modern day Fleishhacker Pool*:

Small world, my dad took me to see Fleisshacker Pool, too. A couple of times. This would be late '60s(?). I forget if it still had water in it. Amazing just to see it, water or no.

For you young'uns, it was located near the SF Zoo (which also used to be called Fleisshacker Zoo, IIRC) and was a salt water pool about as big as a couple of football fields, give or take.

EDIT: Googled it. It was open (and filled with water of course) until 1971.

I'm thinking Mr. Cafaro is one of those rare contractors that Trump won't stiff, regardless of the quality of the workmanship. He looks like one of those guys that if you don't pay his invoice that they find your body shrink wrapped, weighted and at the bottom of an aqueduct. They find your hands and feet shrink wrapped, weighted and at the bottom of an aqueduct…..in a different state.

The Roman Contribution to the Aqueduct:

While the Romans did not invent the initial concept, they revolutionized hydraulic engineering by introducing the raised monumental arch. This allowed them to cross deep valleys while keeping a perfectly steady downhill slope driven purely by gravity. (Brittanica)

Fleishacker Pool is the coldest spot in the City, west of the Zoo and near the Great Highway and Ocean Beach. My mother sometimes swam there, but only when she had to as part of a team, I guess. The pool was heated, but the wind and the ice cold air near the ocean dropped the water temperature way down. I've been there, but rarely saw any more than a few hardy souls swimming there - nothing like in your photo.

I first learned to swim in Sutro Baths, near the Cliff House. The building was several stories in height, and the ground floor was where the swimming pools were. The building was also a museum of San Francisco history, and you could walk down several flights of stairs to see the photos and artifacts. The pools were salt water, and all heated, which made it comfortable to swim. There was a diving pool as well, and a high diving board. It was like being in a steam room with all the steam rising from the pool surface.

The human body is much more buoyant in salt water, and I floated so easily it was easy to learn to swim, or so I thought at the time. I remember going in summers to Lake Tahoe to swim, and in that fresh water lake I sank like a rock. I blame the lessons seawater for my not learning to swim well. But it sure was more comfortable than learning in a freezing cold place like Fleishacker Pool.

Sutro Baths was a victim of an arson attack in 1966. It burned to the ground, and the culprit was never apprehended. You can stand on the cliff above, look down, and see the old Sutro pools down below, usually full of sea water washing ashore, but the building is gone forever.
