He does not appear to be a good person. That aside, he struck officers with a whip like device. He got 6 years. That seems a bit stiff.

Deadly force is only justified when there is a clear and immediate danger of serious harm or death.

All Insurrectionists pushing on that door could have legally been summarily executed at that scene (aka "a good shoot").

All Insurrectionists applying force to that officer could have been legally summarily executed at the scene.

….and you are crying about a 6 year sentence? Hundreds of those hillbilly mother f@uckers got off easy. Real easy.

Assault on an officer for a Black person means the death penalty on the spot. And by chance if one makes it the police station,25 to life would be the sentence.

An Indiana man who was recently pardoned for his participation in the Jan. 6 Capitol riot was shot and killed during a traffic stop by a sheriff's deputy Sunday.

Matthew Huttle, 42, was involved in a traffic stop at 4:15 p.m. by a Jasper County sheriff's deputy, authorities said in a news release. It alleged that Huttle resisted arrest and was found to have a firearm on him.

"An altercation took place between the suspect and the officer, which resulted in the officer firing his weapon and fatally wounding the suspect," the release said.

Sheriff Patrick Williamson requested an investigation by the Indiana State Police. The deputy was placed on paid administrative leave in accordance with department policy, Williamson said.

"Our condolences go out to the family of the deceased as any loss of life is traumatic to those that were close to Mr. Huttle," Williamson said in a statement. "I will release the officer's name once I have approval from the State Police Detectives."

No additional details were provided.

Huttle was identified by the Jasper County coroner, who completed an autopsy Monday morning.

Huttle was one of many people identified as having taken part in the riot at the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, in which hundreds of President Donald Trump's supporters broke into the building in an attempt to stop the counting of electoral votes in the 2020 presidential election.

Court records show Huttle entered into an agreement with federal prosecutors in August 2023, pleading guilty to a charge of entering and remaining in a restricted building or grounds. He was sentenced in November 2023 to six months in federal prison, followed by 12 months of supervised release.

That was rendered moot this month when Trump pardoned roughly 1,500 people who were involved in the Jan. 6 riot last week after he was inaugurated.

According to the complaint, Huttle was at the Capitol that day with his uncle, and investigators obtained videos uploaded to his own Google account of him there. He could be heard in one of his videos saying that a group of people were going to the Capitol and that he was "going to see if we can get inside."

He was identified on security video inside the building, including inside the Capitol's crypt, the complaint said.

Some comparable recent examples:

An African American man who sucker punched a Portland cop in the back of the head, knocking him to the ground, during the 2021 riots / protests got 12 months. This was caught on video. He was released without bail post arrest. (Notice, no "immediate death penalty)

The migrants that attacked NYC cops - including kicking them while on the ground - were mostly offered plea deals between 6-12 months. This was caught on video. They were released without bail post arrest.

The NYC man caught on video attacking a cop by spraying him with a fire extinguisher while the cop was in his car hasn't been sentenced but was released pre-trial without bail.

Details matter - I don't know the particulars for every J6 assault on LEO a case - but it does appear some of these defendants got abnormally heavy punishments with the +/- 5 year sentences.

The guy we're discussing got 6 months in prison and 12 months supervised release. That's in line with your examples, perhaps even less than them.

Interesting. I provided a link to many of the sentences. Most of the 'assault a LEO' type people got 4-6 years.

TRUMP IS A MAJOR CRIMINAL
Disgusting!

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) President Donald Trump has pardoned a former Republican Tennessee lawmaker who was two weeks into a 21-month prison sentence for an illegal campaign finance scheme that he pleaded guilty to in 2022, before he tried unsuccessfully to take back his plea.

Former Sen. Brian Kelsey announced the pardon in a social media post Tuesday evening. He had been ordered to report to FCI Ashland's minimum security satellite camp in Kentucky on Feb. 24.
Kelsey received a "full and unconditional pardon" for his case and authorities were ordered to release him from prison immediately, according to a copy of the president's action provided by Kelsey's attorney.

"May God bless America, despite the prosecutorial sins it committed against me, President Trump, and others the past four years," Kelsey said in the post.

The 47-year-old pleaded guilty in November 2022 to charges related to his attempts to funnel campaign money from his state legislative seat toward his failed 2016 congressional bid.
Kelsey was indicted in October 2021. He initially labeled the prosecution a witch hunt and blamed the Democratic administration of then-President Joe Biden. But when a co-defendant pleaded guilty the following October, Kelsey quickly did as well.

He repeated his attack on the Biden administration Tuesday, saying, "God used Donald Trump to save me from the weaponized Biden DOJ," referring to the Department of Justice. In 2017, during Trump's first term, Kelsey's campaign finance dealings spurred a complaint by the nonprofit Campaign Legal Center with the Federal Election Commission and the Department of Justice.

Kelsey was unsuccessful in his March 2023 attempt to rescind his guilty plea.
Kelsey had argued he entered the plea with an "unsure heart and a confused mind." He noted that he and his wife had twin sons born in September 2022, and his father had terminal pancreatic cancer, then died in February 2023.

Kelsey also accepted the plea deal because his then-attorneys advised that he would likely receive probation, according to a statement Wednesday from an attorney now representing Kelsey.

"The American public deserves to understand the mayhem that the Jan. 6 pardons have unleashed. Among the 12 serious recidivists whom we are aware of, four were in jail or prison at the time of the pardon, and they quickly went on to commit more crimes:

On March 5, a court in Florida sentenced Andrew Paul Johnson to life in prison for molesting a 12-year-old boy and a girl of the same age. To keep the children quiet, Mr. Johnson is said to have promised to bequeath to them part of a Jan. 6 restitution payment from the federal government that he claimed he would receive. He used the online gaming platforms Discord and Roblox to reach out to the children after Mr. Trump freed him from prison. On Jan. 6, Mr. Johnson entered the Capitol through a broken window and accosted police officers.

In the past two months, Jake Lang destroyed an ice sculpture outside the Minnesota State Capitol, leading to a felony vandalism charge, and helped organize an anti-Muslim rally in New York City that turned violent. On Jan. 6, he was caught on camera storming the Capitol with a baseball bat and a riot shield, which prosecutors said he used to attack police officers.

In May, Zachary Alam was arrested for breaking into a house in Virginia and stealing a tablet computer and a diamond necklace. On Jan. 6, he was among the first to enter the Capitol building from its west lawn and hurled items at police officers from a balcony. At his sentencing hearing, he was unrepentant: "Sometimes you have to break the rules to do what's right." He had previous convictions for auto theft and driving under the influence.

Enrique Tarrio, the leader of the far-right Proud Boys, scuffled with protesters at a news conference and was briefly detained on assault charges, a month after Mr. Trump freed him from a 22-year prison sentence. Mr. Tarrio was one of the leaders behind the Jan. 6 attack, but he was not in Washington on the day of the riot. He had been kicked out of the city after vandalizing a Black church after an earlier pro-Trump rally.

An additional eight Jan. 6 rioters were out of prison when Mr. Trump pardoned them and have since been charged with new crimes:

On March 25, a judge sentenced Daniel Tocci to four years in prison for possession of more than 110,000 child pornography images. During the Jan. 6 riot, he joined the mob as it broke into the Capitol and destroyed and took government property.

On March 1, Bryan Betancur grabbed a woman's hair on the Washington Metro, leading to a charge of assault and battery. At least two women have also accused him of stalking. He was already on probation for a burglary conviction when he stormed the Capitol and helped rioters circulate furniture that most likely was used as weapons.

In October, Christopher Moynihan threatened to kill Hakeem Jeffries, the House minority leader, and pleaded guilty to a harassment charge over the incident. On Jan. 6, he was among the first rioters to breach police barricades and eventually broke into the Senate chamber.

Robert Packer was arrested in September after his dogs attacked people, putting four in the hospital. He previously had a long criminal record that included theft and drunken driving, and during the Jan. 6 riot, he wore a "Camp Auschwitz" sweatshirt.

John Andries violated a legal order requested by the mother of his child by repeatedly following and confronting her, leading to a sentence in June of 60 days in jail and three years of unsupervised probation. On Jan. 6, he entered the Capitol through a broken window and pushed police officers once inside.

Brent Holdridge was arrested in May for stealing tens of thousands of dollars' worth of industrial copper wire. On Jan. 6, he was scheduled to be in jail on separate drug-related charges, but he skipped his booking and joined the mob as it breached the Capitol.

Jonathan Munafo was rearrested last year after he allegedly fled federal supervision imposed for dozens of menacing phone calls, including one in which he threatened to "cut the throat" of a 911 dispatcher. During the riots, he punched a police officer twice, stole his riot shield and used a wooden flagpole to try to break a window.

Days after he was pardoned, Matthew Huttle is said to have resisted arrest during a traffic stop, and a sheriff's deputy shot and killed him. The police said he had a gun. On Jan. 6, he helped take over the Capitol and joined rioters in chanting, "Whose house? Our house."

Neither did the D.C. courts, which is why pardons were necessary.

Trump is blatantly selling pardons to white collar crooks. That alone would be an impeachable offense if impeachment was anything other than a stunt for political parties. But of those 12 who have committed violent offenses, that's well over 1,400 people who were overcharged.

And at least that many were physically battering police, smashing windows at the US Capitol, participating in a Coup d'Etat.

As I said, very few!

Thanks for coming up with stats to prove my point.
