That is inaccurate. Post Great Recession legislation required additional funding in anticipation of lower stock market returns. Given high actual stock market returns the additional funding has overfunded the pensions. Based on the old legislation the overfunding would be returned from 2033-2038. Mamdani's change is simply smoothing the funding curve. The pensions are not unfunded.

My mother in law receives a NYC pension. Our family has real skin in the game here beyond trying to score political points.

Temporary just means "not permanent ". There is no implication of duration, other than an implied end some time in the future.

Words aren't that hard - unless you only process information through a highly partisan filter.

Absolutely my point as I first asked "what does temporary mean to you?" Temporary means it ends. They were here temporarily. Thank you for repeatedly reminding everyone what temporary means and that it makes sense to send them back.

The President does have the right to end temporary protected status for certain groups of immigrants. He can do it if he wants. I just think it's the wrong decision here and will cause more harm than good.

Hey, why don't we just do the following? Just take what the Supreme Court gave us, and let's go to New York City and say, "Mamdani you talk a big game bro, but they're all leaving. We got the buses outside. Let's load them up, take them right out there to LaGuardia, got a plane, boom. Next stop, Haiti. Next stop, Syria." Maybe lead with the Syrians. It's got to happen. If it doesn't happen, you don't have a country.
