So blessed to be able to live here.
Especially during the Holidays!

Good to see you enjoying our beautiful nature.

My granpappies were hoofing it on those trails as the only means of transportation - before cars.

Imagine having to saddle up EVERY TIME you wanted to go anywhere!

Crazy, right?

I like imagining what it'll be like in 100 years. These battery VTOLs will no doubt predominate!!! But we'll be restricted as to flight pattern, which will be controlled by the state on a master computer to coordinate where and when.

That's my future prediction.

There is. But it doesn't have the classic espadanya architecture.

I guess those original bells get stolen often enough from Taco Bell's. Empty cutouts in the building architecture got bricked in and covered with a graphic of a bell. As happened in Lafayette. Booo to that.

Was at my local Porsche dealer yesterday in the Diablo Valley and came across this Porsche GT2RS. I'm not really into black cars, but this piece of machinery was GORGEOUS and adorned with some nice carbon fiber bits.

This car was last produced in late 2018 .
Base price: $220,000

I asked the tech who had parked it what the car was in for.
He said, he replaced the battery.

I then asked him how many miles were on it.
He said 250.

Pathetic.

Also came across this Porsche S/T.

It's a limited-edition numbered car that is a variant of the GT3.
Only 1,963 were built.

Has some really cool body design pieces like the double-bubble roof and flares on the upper doors.

I am told this is Dave Duffield's car, the Chairman of Workday and former founder of Peoplesoft in Walnut Creek
Last month, he donated to his alma mater of Cornell a gift of $371 million on top of $100 million in 2025.

Worth $12 Billion.

Duffield and his wife are the financial backers of Maddie's Fund.
The animal shelter management organization.
He's 85.

He used to live in Alamo and now resides up in Incline Village.
Has 180 cars in a garage there.

I believe this car has roughly 250 miles on it.
The base MSRP: $291,000

For sale: $699,000 asking

FD leaves the scene, fire re-ignites.

Were there really that many fires that night? Couldn't leave a skeleton crew there?

FWIW, Martinez has Slow Hand location, too. Several local BBQ places have closed, including Horn BBQ in Lafayette.

Bo's BBQ in Lafayette was the bomb, best BBQ I've ever had. Bo, who was originally from Mississippi played football at Illinois IIRC. He had great taste in beer, with an amazing selection of Belgian ales including trappist like Rochefort.

Bingo.
All true!

Bo and Ofelia were looking to relocate to SF.
Not sure if there's been any progress on that.

no offense to Memphis but it's often referred to as a dumpster itself ….so you'd be in a dumpster eating in a dump. I lived in Oakland for years and now in "Lewiston by Sea" and I love both, so Memphis may be in my future. Now back to Bo's. Would make the drive to Bo's from oakland often….especially when Flints went bye bye.

Memphis is great- food, music and history I'll amend my remarks to say I'd rather be in a dump in Memphis than in a mall in a wasteland like the Diablo Valley

And yes, Bo's was passable bbq for California or Maine

Maine has zero bbq, Mexican or Chinese. Lived in Texas for a while. Good bbq stuff there. Headed thru NE,IA and KS this week so chances are good for bbq.

Great host, big flirt, but in his mid 70s I doubt he's trucking to The City. Too bad he couldn't reopen on MDB. He called a friend a "world class beauty", and she about bowled him over w a huge hug. He took grad classes at Cal, and apparently taught some grad classes.

I never went to Big Nates, bad call on my part.

Crazy Block Cheesecakes on Lakeshore in Oakland one block from the theater has killer Texas-style BBQ. BBQ, latkes, and crazy Cheesecakes. The owner IS LOUD... but on point. Colorful cartoon murals.

Can you blame him?

He built Peoplesoft, Workday, and Ridgeline.
The first two headquartered in Pleasanton, Ca with thousands of employees.

Why not take the money that would have otherwise been taxed by CA and commit it to philanthropy that he has control over?

Would you not have done the same?

I know I would have.

Ha!
Neither did I my friend!

Danville was #2 last year.
Now #1.

On SafeWise's list, Danville is shown with a population of 42,814 and extremely low per-capita crime rates:

A violent-crime rate of 0.6 incidents per 1,000 residents and a property-crime rate of 5.9 per 1,000.
