It's pretty shocking how little middle school aged kids can do for themselves. The amount of hand holding that needs to be done has grown drastically over the last 5-10 years. Attention spans have shortened, critical thinking has diminished, basic executive functioning skills are disappearing.

Teachers need to step up in regards to these problems and work to resolve them. That has been eroding over the years as well.

It's largely the teachers IMO, the quality has dropped in the last few years between when my oldest went through and my younger one now

Of course as a non teacher you'd feel that way and as a teacher I'd feel the way I feel. It's certainly not only one or the other. It's more of a reflection of society as a whole and the lack of attention in students as well as the lack of accountability at home. I have a very strong feeling that if you were in the classroom you'd feel much differently. Behavioral challenges are at absurd levels.

The teachers have the kids for six hours a day, 180 days a year. That's 1,080 hours, leaving 7,680 hours when they are not in the classroom. If you don't want to count sleeping hours, that still leaves 4,760 hours.

Our education system can always do better, who can't, but let's not blame teachers for this. Most teachers care about kids and are trying their best.

Let's study BS's posting over 100X a day on school day (multiple days) while presumably working as a teacher. I find that worrisome and suspect, leading me to believe he is doing a disservice to his employer, students and parents.

He's a fan of Kirk. Kirk asked for debates to "Prove Me Wrong". With this case study and my finding above, "Prove me Wrong".

What has been your average number? I would state for most days this week at least 75+ a day, and definitely sometimes in the 90 plus territory. As a parent of a child in a school now, if I heard a teacher was doing this during the school day with the combativeness shown, I would be completely outraged. I am outraged for the students. Time spent here takes away from tutoring, helping with letters of rec, lesson planning, helping out the school. It saddens me.

When have I posted 100 times during school hours? I'll wait. You have no clue what you're talking about. This is hilarious.

Letters of recommendation were due months ago. I'm not allowed to tutor outside of school hours, as per school policy. My lessons are all planned during the summer. Minor tweaks here and there during the school year. Stick to what you know although I'm not really sure what that is
