Spurs got lazy and just keep shooting outside

Charles Barkley talking about the dumbest basketball he's ever seen. Up by 25 points and the Spurs take 8 three pointers in a row without eating any clock.

I don't understand why the "just get the ball to Wemby in the paint" strategy always goes away down the stretch.

They got married to the 3 after the first half.
A record 14 threes in the first half.

2 - 14 in Q3.

76 points in the first half.
30 points in the second half.

Such a lucky tip but that's basketball sometimes.

Good comeback win for the Knicks

Wasn't all luck either. He saw he was left wide open because all the Spurs' focus was on defending Brunson and secondarily keeping KAT off the boards. Got a free run at the basket to rebound a possible miss and timed it well.

Getting to the ball wasn't luck but the tip itself was.

It does look like he guided it there. Top pro players are really good at that stuff.

Of course there is always some element of luck in a sports play, but a lot of that was prep and skill putting him in position to benefit from it.

He put himself in good position, SA didn't box him out and he got a load of luck on the tip in.

He didn't need to foul after that either. They had Alvarado semi-trapped in a tough position near the half-court line.

I also forgot that Fox was the guy who threw the ball away on that breakaway layup that Josh Hart biffed. Fox was making a lot of bad plays down the stretch.

I watched the game delayed, but I knew the outcome would be epic because my phone, which I didn't looked at, was dinging often while I was at a 25 point lead.

Geez, why ?

In the future, i have to not only refrain from looking at phone but turn it off.

My thoughts are:
Fox wanted out of Sac so he could be the vet guard next to Wemby for multiple titles. But he has kind of played himself out of San Antonio this series - they don't need him. You're not the wise vet, you're an idiot.
Spurs could trade him after that play, if anyone would want to take on his contract.

Huge huge negative consequences for Fox, and it's actually kind of sad.

I hope I'm wrong. I feel bad for him.

Totally.
And he blew (messed up) a prior game, too. He DID make a big bucket in the win, though.

Yeah, everyone was talking about his last play, which was epic dumb

But it was his 4 unforced turnovers and dribbling the ball off his foot twice that lost the game. That clip didn't even include his other 4th Q turnover where he got bailed out because the Knick player smoked the breakaway layup

I kept saying the coach needed to pull him because he completely lost his poise, and…

And don't forget that Wemby missed BOTH of his free throws with 1:47 left.

One of the Spurs problems is that nobody knows who gets the ball at the end of the game. There is no doubt that a Brunson, Curry, Ant, etc is closing out for other teams but the Spurs don't have a guy that creates, shoots, etc- actually they do have these guys but it's not Fox

I would imagine that most Cal fans (and program donors) are wondering where the $43 million is going to keep coming from in order to "paper" over the Athletic Department budget deficit.

Bottom line: The statement of revenues and expenses puts the Cal athletic department's deficit at more than $24 million for the most recent fiscal year, including nearly $12 million in payments for the renovation of Memorial Stadium and other capital projects.

That deficit also could be viewed as an understatement, given that Cal counted as revenue almost $43 million in "direct institutional support" from the university.

Cal's sports spending soars to over $165 million in school's first year in ACC - Yahoo Sports

That money is going to keep coming from future media deals with a different conference but not unless we can stay afloat and win until we get there.

I largely agree with you.

The deal with the ACC is what it is.
It's a deeply discounted "lifeline"

Based on ACC media revenue projections, it suggests that Cal and Furd will take home $195 million less in distributions than the legacy ACC schools over the nine-year period.

"Hopes and Prayers" to move to another conference are just that.

"Hopes and Prayers".

Yeah, that was really bad. A huge difference between a 1 point lead and a 2 point lead… as the Spurs found out

But these's a difference between missing FTs and the horrible unforced turnovers from a vet PG

Some of the worst passes to no one I've seen from a PG

The Spurs lost the last two Finals games with unforgivable errors by the Spurs

It was a crap deal that we pretty much had to take it throw in the towel then and there. Hopes and prayers aren't what I'm talking about. I'm talking about people putting their money where their mouth is otherwise there will be no longer be a program to support.
