Here's a video showing why they fired their 3rd base coach. Wow, that's bad!

The Giants have much bigger problems than a third base coach.

That's an understatement.
They have no bullpen.

Now post how many runners they've left on base for the month.

It's more that it's been feast or famine: some big scoring games but also plenty of 3-runs-or-less games.

In Monday Night's loss they left a dozen runners on base in the first game of the series against the Nationals.

The next night was even worse.
The Giants left 13 runners on.

On the positive side, at least the Giants seem like most of them are starting to hit. Maybe it is the warmer weather.

One problem I see with them is they constantly change lineups. And they have been loading the top of the order with power hitters. They don't seem to have typical leadoff hitters, guys who always make contact, get on base, and can hit behind a runner, let alone get an unusual guy like Bobby Bonds was, who was good at getting on base, but in later innings, if he came up with a runner on, he could hit behind him, move him along, or hit the ball over the fence and drive in two or more runs with one swing.

Vitello has Chapman and Lee, bona fide hitters with power, batting near the bottom of the lineup. I could understand batting Chapman so low in the order, because he was in a slump from opening day, but Lee is another matter. If anyone looks like a leadoff hitter, it might be him. Just my opinion.

The whole Pride Cap Controversy is the typical bs that clogs our news nowadays as grist for social media. I would've advised the four players to wear the caps (as I would've done myself) but guess what, there is a decent-sized minority of baseball players who are rednecks. Big surprise.

And guess what again: It's San Francisco so this is going to be a big deal.

Dear both sides: Get over it and quit virtue signaling.

Final thought: This is what inevitably happens when you have flags at school and special "nights" for certain subgroups of people.

My solution would be to stop making players wear alternate uniforms like this that inherently make a political statement. That includes both the Pride caps and the military-themed stuff. You can still have a Pride night or a ceremony honoring soldiers at your stadium but you don't need to make the players wear it.

That will never happen, of course, because these teams will not pass up an opportunity to hawk more merchandise, but one can dream.

….and I would argue that reply is non responsive, evasive and an example of this tactic:

1. The Fusion of Faith and Nation in the MAGA movement, being religious and being patriotic are deeply connected. Adherents often believe that the United States has a special, divinely ordained purpose and that its founding principles were rooted in biblical values. The movement frames the preservation of America and the "MAGA" political agenda as a spiritual mission to protect a Christian nation from secularism and outside cultural threats.

2. Symbols of Identity:
Public displays of faith and patriotism are highly visible. Religious imagery (such as crosses and public prayer) and patriotic symbols (like the American flag, the Constitution, and red "MAGA" hats) are frequently worn and displayed together. Wearing these symbols acts as a public declaration of identity, signaling a shared in-group belonging and allegiance to both the country and the political movement.

3. Protection of "Traditional Values"

For MAGA supporters, this public religious and patriotic stance is viewed as a defense of traditional values. This includes advocating for policies that integrate religious principles into public life, such as:

Returning prayer and the Ten Commandments to public schools

Protecting religious liberty, particularly for conservative Christian views the on family structures and the sanctity of life.

Perspectives and Criticisms

Supporters view this synthesis as an act of civic duty and faithfulness, believing that prioritizing strong national borders, economic protectionism, and traditional morality aligns with both good governance and biblical principles.

Critics (including many other religious groups) argue that this ideology distorts both faith and patriotism. They suggest that it transforms a spiritual faith into an instrument for political dominance and promotes an exclusionary version of America that marginalizes non-Christians and non-white citizens.

Maybe "virtue signaling" is a more accurate description of the pro-Pride Cap crowd, getting outraged by this issue. For the four pitchers who didn't wear the cap, or wrote a bible verse on it, I would just tell them that you signed with San Francisco, what did you expect? Sometimes you gotta go along to get along. Write the verse on the inside of the cap or something, instead.

I think I read that some player just wore the regular Giants hat instead of the pride one, that would have been a decent work around.

….and what does writing Scriptural references on the Pride caps have to do with "wanting to wear their regular hats?"

*I agree that they should not be politicizing sports via the uniforms.

Nah you gotta wait until end of season for that. In previous years they would have been finishing in the middle of the table, so not a candidate for relegation.

The one guy did wear his regular cap... and he caught the brunt of the s***.

I don't care. The whole story should be buried; we have plenty of other real challenges to face. (Ironically, here I am, commenting on it.)

It's gotta be tough at times inside the Giants organization, when that far-right majority owner clashes with the hyper-woke faces of the (SF) franchise.

Well, the SF Chronicle has done its damnedest to keep this stupid, inconsequential story alive (articles in both the news and sports section almost every day), so I thought I'd pass on some of the pain to you (misery loves company).

Meanwhile, Golden Boy Buster Posey has seemingly chosen this spring and summer to blend into the background. And one of their "best" players (Devers) decided to lead by example the other day. After drawing a walk in the 9th inning, Giants behind by (?) one run, he initially refused to be taken out of the game for a pinch runner.

It's a s***show over there right now, top to bottom.

The Dodgers are still bums though!
