4 Star Sierra Canyon Safety Myles Baker Commits to Cal
The Bears picked up a big commitment this week over a wide range of top-level programs, securing the services of 6-2/205 Sierra Canyon safety Myles Baker. The 4 star safety was thought to favor LSU and Oregon but head coach Tosh Lupoi’s prior relationship with Baker helped secure his commitment to Cal.
In two varsity seasons, Baker has totaled 101 tackles, 13 TFLs, 2 sacks, 2 fumble recoveries, 3 forced fumbles, 3 interceptions and 12 passes defended. He also played a bit of offense at running back, adding 141 combined rushing and receiving yards along with a TD. Rated 4 stars by both 247 and On3/Rivals, Baker is also rated in the Top 250 by both services and the #20 safety nationally by 247.
Besides Oregon and LSU, the Bears also beat out Alabama, Ohio State, USC, UCLA, Michigan, Oklahoma, Texas, Ole Miss, Tennessee and more for Baker’s commitment. He joins fellow Cal commits 4 star Sutter edge Troy Bowens, 3 star Grant Union edge Giovanni Hodge, 3 star Oregon LB Gunnar Perry, 3 star Texas WR Blake Gunter and IMG kicker Zach Brien in the Bears’ 2027 recruiting class.
