The Bears beat out plenty of stiff competition for their first CB commit of the 2027 class, adding 4 star Serra High School cornerback Duvay Williams today.
Named to the prestigious Navy All-American Bowl game as well as the Polynesian Bowl, the 6-1/170 corner also fielded offers from USC, UCLA, Oregon, Notre Dame, Auburn, Michigan, Ohio State, Alabama, Texas and more before choosing the Bears
"What stood out to me most was just the relationship I built with the whole staff," Williams said. "Coach Tosh and everybody at Cal kept it real with me from the start and made me feel like family. And on the defensive side of the ball, I feel like it’s the best place for me to grow on and off the field."
At 6'1 with a 10.9 100 time, Williams offers the length and speed combination the Bears covet in their corners.
As a junior for Serra, Williams totaled 25 tackles, two TFL, five passes defended, three interceptions and one fumble recovery. He also played some receiver on offense, adding 12 catches for 184 yards (15.3 ypc) and 2 TDs.
Williams became the Bears’ 11th 2027 commit and will join running back commits Antwon Sanders (Houston) and Jaxsen Stokes (Sierra Canyon), Westlake receiver Charles Davis III, Texas WR Blake Gunter, DT Corona Centennial DL Miles Schirmer, Sutter DE Troy Bowens, Grant edge Giovanni Hodge, Arizona LB Gunnar Perry , Sierra Canyon safety Myles Baker and IMG academy kicker and IMG Academy kicker Zach Brien in the Bears’ 2027 recruiting class. He’s scheduled for an official visit to Cal June 4-7.
