I was impressed with the bluntness of the NC State hoops coach in that interview. But then he kept going for the full 4 minutes denigrating the toughness and mental effort of his team, and I started to think, well who recruited these players?
There are a lot of coaches who, when disappointed in their team, will criticize their players in a general sense, but they will also call out their own failings (e.g. "But I also need to call better plays, or put them in a better position to succeed." Sean McVey is one coach who comes to mind who does this. He'll blame himself, but I'm sure the players know when he is including their failings in his overall negative assessment.
