Shocker… Cal food services not ready for a real crowd, lines are ridiculous. More missed $$ and goodwill opportunity, never ceases to amaze how bad the AD is on these basic things.

A competent administrator would treat the team who is responsible for for GameDay experience to experience first hand what it's like to be a fan.

So that's what a good, well coached basketball team looks like.

Madsen can coach. The firat 13 games showed that. Until the whales come back we do not have upper half acc talent.

34-19 rebounds advantage for Louisville. No possible way to stay in a game when your rebounding is so poor.

I knew when San Rafael gave Cal all they could handle... this was going to be a long year.

Have we ever had whales during the NIL era? We are cheap, always have been. Our culture isn't serious about playing with the big boys. The whole effort to get small donors to float the boat is so misguided.

A long year? We'll be 12-2 after this loss. If we can win the games we should win, this will be a very successful year given preseason expectations.

We might not be a bubble team yet but this team has been the first glimmer of hope for Cal fans since Cuonzo Martin was roaming the sidelines.

I'm disappointed but we're dealing with a legit ranked team that's bringing its A+ game. We know we here we stand, and under Madsen, we'll continue to build and build.

We underperformed against Dominican, yes. But we still won. In a game that literally didn't count as far as metrics go. A solid Boise State team lost to a bad D2 team this year.

Did you see the game against a ranked UCLA team?

Is UCLA ranked now? Or were they overrated?

Getting blown out at home by 30 points to a decent (not great) Louisville team lets me know how good Cal will be the rest of the season, not just tonight.

Wish I could sugar coat it.

This Louisville team is absolutely stacked. A legit elite 8/final 4 contender.

I agree that our roster is not talented enough to compete with these top-tier teams. But that doesn't mean we can't have a very solid season.

God and i thought i was negative.

Just reality.

Look at the scores around the country with the top 25 teams.

Example, tonight a 7-7 Florida State team lost by 13 points to the #12 team in the country (North Carolina) at North Carolina... not at home.

You shouldn't be 12-1 and lose to a decent not great team by 20 at home.

Sorry I can't serve you the Kool-aid you're thirsting for.

We will have better games and worse games. Our opponents will not always play this well. But yes, clearly we are not nearly as good as Louisville. I think most of us knew that going in.

Just enjoy the ride. The NCAAs were a stretch goal. NIT is more realistic and would show growth. Let's see how it goes.

That Florida State team also lost to an unranked Dayton squad by 28 points and a bad UMass team at home.

The point being that you can't take the result of a single game and somehow use it to evaluate the entire season.

I didn't.

I gave you the example of the San Rafael game.

Dominican isn't a small school powerhouse like Gonzaga.

They would have a problem beating a good Branson or Drake team.

Rebounding technique is basic fundamental basketball. We continue to struggle with boxing out. We also continue to leave guys wide open for 3. This is not just an acc thing. It's an every opponent thing. It's maddening, or perhaps I should say, Madsening. It needs to improve.

This season has yet to be written. Losses to Duke, Louisville, North Carolina and Virginia are expected. We need to get/stay healthy and beat the teams we can beat. This loss won't even hurt us as long as we don't let it affect us.

Don't you think that is lack of quickness? LV would usually make quick passes around to the open guy and we just can't get to the rock fast enough. It is also the case that their virginia transfer has unlimited range and then their leading scorer made several off balance shots. But is it the consistent theme of the madsen defenses - I also wonder if it has been the lack of rim defense that leads our guys to sag/help and then they get exposed.

Again, we beat UCLA so that has already proven we can beat solid tourney-level teams. Louisville is just one of the top teams in the country this year.

And "Branson" is not the name of any D1 school so I have no idea what you're talking about. Maybe learn a little bit more about CBB before issuing any further takes.

Why this is DUMB is that the mid-majors that don't play football actually have significantly more $$$ (all things being equal) than bluebloods and I expect many an upsets this March because of it.

Branson and Drake are high school teams in Marin near Dominican and yes Dominican probably would struggle to beat them. As someone who grew up in the Bay Area when I saw that Cal was playing Dominican my first thought was "Dominican has a basketball team?" Followed by "The one in San Rafael? That is barely a real college" followed by "Cal is playing them!?!?!?!"

Scheduling Dominican is an absolute joke.

A key challenge is the lack of west coast opportunities. Did we really want to play (and lose) to st. Marys or UCSD again - bad losses and little upside for winning. I get the schedule. I also understand that the game might have filled a hole. We did NOT play well but we ended up winning going away once they shook off the funk. We are 12-2? I sure as heck did not have us at that - I thought we would struggle to win 10 games total.

Exactly. This game just proves that we can't yet compete with the better teams in the ACC. Our 3-point defense tonight was terrible, and for most of the game Louisville was shooting lights out from 3. Lots for the guys to learn from this game.

It was tongue and cheek.

Branson and Drake are high schools in Marin that have won the State Championship in the past.

I didn't even know Dominican had a basketball team till Cal played them. I thought they were a nursing school for the rich kids.

That game shouldn't have been close with a few minutes to go. Then Cal woke up and realized they were basically playing a high school team and pulled away late.

If hoping for an NIT bid is what you're looking for...Cal might be able to do it. But no guarantees.

Don't exaggerate. Louisville didn't defeat Cal by 30 points tonight. The final score was 90-70, and Cal cut the Louisville lead to 11 points with about 3 minutes left. This is a decent Cal team; they're just not good enough to beat a very good, 16th rated Louisville team.
