How long do you want to ignore this user?

We absolutely need Dort back to have a good chance against better opponents. The recipe for victory without him is there, though: Our three-point shooters are all hot (quite possible) and the opponent has a poor shooting night.

I'm trying -- unsuccessfully -- to recall a better shooting Cal team, from beyond the arc.

This team is shooting .376 from 3, #26 in the country. Monty's first team featuring Randle, Robertson and Christopher shot .427, #1 in the country.

Yeah, the year before Anderson shot .410 but Theo didn't play that year we shot .359 as a team (133 in the country). Vierniesal shot .298 and Knezevic shot .200.

The rankings:
1. 2008-09 .427 Randle, Christopher,Robertson
2. 1989-90 .387 K. Smith, Drew, Elleby, Walton
3T 2025-26 .375 Camden, Bell, Pippen, Ames
3T 1987-88 .375 K. Smith, Drew, Beeuwsaert, Walton
5T 2007-08 .374 Randle, Christopher, Robertson, Gutierrez
5T 2002-03 .374 Shipp, Tamir, Wethers, Midgley
5T 2005-06 .374 Ubaka, Midgley, O. Wilkes, Robertson

^ 100%. We're lucky to have Ilic this season, especially with Dort's injury. I think people appreciate him, but we "say" things sometimes, in the middle of a game thread.

Ilic looks like he would make a nice tight end.

The Stanford center Caaman averages 6.1 points per game. He got 19 against us. He is not good and he got 19 against us. The middle is a huge problem Illic cant stop anyone . I cant see how we beat Smu but I will be there. First game of a road trip maybe they are off. Maybe Dort plays but it wont be easy. They do play terrible defense so maybe we can out score them.

Cammann scored 11 points shooting 19 free throws. That is not a horrible trade off when we are hitting threes. He is a 62% career FT shooter, so we probably sometimes fouled him intentionally (Yeanay had 3 fouls in 4 minutes of play). Ilic at least bodied up against Cammann (and fouled out). Obviously Ilic had to be less aggressive once in foul trouble. Other than that, it seems like Kocanas is the one that let him by without even fouling him. One foul in 8 minutes of play? The question I have is why are Kocanas and now Yeanay getting the backup big man minutes behind Ilic when I thought Dut looked good when he got a chance? Hopefully we get Dort back this week and the question is moot.

The current team is likely at least as good as the top 2 teams on this list because the 3pt line today is significantly further out.

The NCAA moved the 3-point line back to the international distance of 22 feet, 1 inches for Division I men's basketball starting in the 2019-20 season.
Key Details on the 3-Point Arc Change:
  • Previous Distance: The line was at 20 feet, 9 inches, where it had been since the 2008-09 season.
  • New Distance: The line was extended to 22 feet, 1 inches, matching the FIBA international distance.
Camden is an outstanding shooter, and clutch, we really should rely more on him especially late in tight games.

John Camden has a beautiful shooting stroke. His mechanics are of a pure shooter, very smooth and consistent.

That didn't take long! I knew there musta been some team in there that shot even better, but none came to mind, right away.
