OB73-I turned the SFG game off, too, trailing Miami 8-0 after 4 innings. LOL

The coaching decisions for pitching and catching have been puzzling all year. After this 17-1 loss vs Stanford embarrassing wonder what this coaching staff has in store for the rest of the weekend?

Today, Cal mustered one hit in the B6th to avoid a Stanford no-hitter. The game invoked the mercy rule with the Cardinal dominating 9-0 in 6 innings.

Today was a much more competitive outing for the bears, unfortunately hitting was not there this weekend. Senior day on Stanford's field is interesting to think about. 5-0 is still a good game against Stanford. They didn't really get their bats going til second half of the game.

Do you think Cal will get some talent to come in and immediately help for next year? They struggled bad. Do you think the HC needs to make changes on his coaching staff?

After following Cal this year and looking at last year, ppl are acting like this team was #1 in the ACC last year. They were bottom middle and squeezed into the NCAA tournament and lost first round. This year was terrible, but many act like they were the top team last year. They weren't even though the past players are doing great this year. Imagine having to hear ALL year every game on national TV that these aren't the coach's players. How do you think that affected this current year's team?? Although true, maybe having the teams back and saying this is my team this year and we are going to work as hard as possible, maybe that would have gave some life to this current team.
As for lineup and pitching decisions, yes they were very questionable. It seemed like they wanted who they wanted and that's who they stuck with good or bad. Many times changes were made way too late with the game being already out of reach. Stuck with the same arms most of the conference games with the same results, so that's a little scary going into next year knowing that things weren't switched up when it wasn't working. Same with position players. Cant keep ppl on the field in vital positions that hurt your chance of winning and have little to no energy in important positions. Seems like bats were prioritized over solid defense instead of a good balance of both.
As far as portal additions, ppl are not running to play for Cal like some may think. If they are all American status or trending that way, then believe Cal can't afford them (maybe 1) and they will be competing with check books from the SEC and Big Ten. Also, the team hasn't been a top 25 team in a while so many players are not going to want to stress themselves with the Cal academics and play for a non-contender. There are some good pieces on this current team but coaching them up needs to happen and adding more to what is already here. With that said there were some bright moments in the circle, offensively, and defensively this year, but who knows who will enter the portal or not. I doubt there are any coaching changes for goodness sake it's year 1 ppl. Even if there needs to be I doubt it is happening in year 1.

Why are we playing at Furd this weekend??? They didn't like the stadium in Saratoga where the games were originally scheduled?

Maybe a conflict with the field?

This is what was posted on Calbears.com:

"The series was originally scheduled to be played at West Valley College in Saratoga where Cal would have hosted the Cardinal - but the series had to be relocated to The Farm."

My theory is that Cal/Furd looked at WVC and realized they didn't have the capacity or the ability to host the large crowd that softball can reel in. Don't get me wrong, WVC was nice but it definitely wouldn't have been able to handle the crowds that showed up last weekend. Considering that ever home game in Saratoga there has been no tickets, no options for concessions, and... I'll describe it as "minimal" staff presence outside of the coaches and folks in the booth, it seems like a no-brainer to relocate to The Farm.

Needless to say, I can't wait for our new digs to open.

We looked great heading into the 5th (two homeruns by Everett!) and…we give up 9 runs to be run ruled.

Sorry. The pitching is horrific. We need to clean house in the circle. I don't see any other solution I know Coach Singleton knows that.

Our defense was pretty bad on normal
Plays. We have to make the easy plays to avoid the wheels from falling off with our pitchers. The coaches have no clue when to leave a pitcher in and when to pull a pitcher. No idea why the first pitcher was pulled so early after inducing a routine grounder for the third out that the defense couldn't make. The second pitcher did pretty good until they got on to her. Our bats were alive today and I wouldn't mind the catcher that caught Sunday against Stanford catching the rest of the weekend. She moves well and has energy behind the dish. Hope tomorrow is better.

Cal batters are on fire this afternoon and lead 11-0 after four innings. Ten hits & five walks have flooded the bases. Natalie Marshall homered over the scoreboard in LC field, and Kayli Counts roped a line drive grand slam to the same spot. Those were the initial long balls of the season for both hitters! It can be quite enjoyable to watch the Bears explode on offense. GO BEARS! Final: Cal 11, Pitt 0 (5 inning mercy rule)

I would say our pitching was awesome today!! I hope you can lift up the pitchers as much as you down them with this comment yesterday.
Shut out today against Pitt

Cal defense has to support Taylor Peacock for her to be able to succeed. She is a pitch to contact person (one strikeout) who generally gets ground balls when she is on her game. This requires the defenders to be on their toes and execute on "makeable" plays. Today, the Bears committed no errors (I think) over five innings to complement her work. Great overall game demonstrated by Cal today. Let's finish the season with a series victory on the road. GO BEARS!

Wow! Cal looked like a different team over these last two games of the season. I hope that they found something because they outscored Pitt 20-1 on Saturday & Sunday. The Bears had two starting pitchers go the distance in run-rule games back-to-back. Kiki Mashhoud yielded a run the B6th to break the shutout string. She threw strikes {walked one) but only struck out one. However, another errorless defensive effort was the missing ingredient. Cal tallied nine runs on nine hits over six ABs for the season finale (game 52). Two more HRs ignited the offense, again. Senior C Natalie Marshall launched her second bomb in two days that hit the ambulance behind the left field fence. Maddie Rey also connected in the 1st inning to set the tone. GO BEARS!

Steve Singleton and Chelsea Singleton were away awaiting the birth of their baby this weekend. Nice gift to them by the players capturing their initial ACC season series on the road to finish the season with an exclamation point. GO BEARS!

Two amazing performances to end the season! I call balls and strikes. When things are bad, you're allowed to say they're bad. When they're good, you should give praise. It's D1 athletics

CF-can you share your opinion/knowledge on the five players listed below:
Do any of them have futures with the team next season or will they likely
enter the transfer portal? Why didn't these five receive PT in 2026?
