This board has been your only source of unfiltered, real information about the Ukraine war, all your other sources sold you a fake narrative built on decades of Cold War propaganda.

Your information comes through a filter too, you just don't realize it.

I do realize, but I also do judge these filters by how accurate they turn out to be. When for example sources are telling you that Russia has been suffering huge losses, and you find out that the rate of prisoner and body exchange between Russian and Ukraine favors the former by a ratio above 30 to 1, that lends you to believe that these sources have been heavily gaslighting.

One of the interesting aspects of following this thread is that you get exposure to both sides, like the British one above, or the stuff that U2sucks used to post from the hardcore NAFO sources, which have been a lot quieter since.

Many of your sources were also saying that Russia was going to defeat Ukraine in a matter of months (or going back a bit further, that Russia was never going to invade at all), and now here we are years later and they haven't done it. Accuracy doesn't seem to be your main concern here.

When someone is wrong on one event and then you are wrong on the next fifty, you can't continuously go back to the one thing they were wrong about a few years ago.

I don't think it's just on the one thing, that's just the most obvious example.

The difference here is that you are saying some predictions on the Russian side didn't pan out, whereas on the Ukraine side the whole interpretation of what went on the past 4 years is off, especially when relating to the most crucial aspect of this war, the amount of casualties on both sides.

The Russians have chosen to have a static war of attrition, but it's very much true that few people expected this war to last two more years two years ago, you're right about this.

Incidentally, Putin has been getting a lot of criticism about this choice of warfare at home, especially given how aggressive the US, Israel and even Iran have been in waging their recent wars. Many analysts are predicting a more aggressive Russian stance this year, we should have an answer this summer if there is a drastic change in Russian strategy.

Some sources are indicating that Trump is going to push Ukraine to accept an "Istanbul Plus" type of settlement, which from my perspective is ideal for both sides. The Russian hawks would not be pleased with that type of settlement which freezes the current borders, but Putin has enough political capital to force this through if Trump pushes for it. European hawks don't like it either, but with the post-Hormuz economic depression about to hit them, they will have to comply. So at least on the Ukraine front, 2026 could be a good year.
